Machine Rolled Anyone?
Anybody smoke machine-rolled cigars here? I've been thinking about trying some La Aurora Principes, iono, I figure they'd make good humi-filler cigars. Are there any machine rolled sticks worth smoking if you're a value guy like me? I like Swisher Sweets sometimes, especially the Peach ones, thanks to Jeff lol.

I'll admit it... sometimes on a summer night with the right friends a berry backwoods goes a long way.

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
Man there are cheap hand rolled cigars that are good for humi filling. Check out the Gran Habano Corojo Vintage 2002 $39.99 for 20 robustos, and I must add they look awfully tastey; Or any of the Indian Tabac line, can't go wrong with $40-50 a box of 90+ rated RP cigars.

I figure I won't feel guilty putting one down early if I get cold this winter lol. I have a feeling most of my other inventory is going into hibernation for a few months at the rate I've been smoking lately. |

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
I have a friend who smokes the avanti anisette cigars. They smell horrible when they are done. He smokes in his car(A new prius) and I cant stand the way his car smells.
He will not smoke a handrolled. I gag if he stands near me, and I wont let him sit , but on one chari in my home. Hes a bachelor, and has poor habits. I wish he would smoke something that made him smell like there a smelly cloud over him. And this guy was a treasury agent at one time, but went a little cuckoo and was asked to take a disability pension. That was almost 20 years ago. For those that have drove through the staten island land fill or those from jersey who can smell it, you get the smell I am talking about. His dog even smells bad, and for the sake of his dog, I wish he would switch, but thats the way it is. Jerry |

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
Mister B is a decent humidor filler. Tobacos Baez Serie SF is a more flavorful sandwich cigar that won't break the bank. If you like a corona, Punch London Club is inexpensive.
Parodi and DeNobili are guilty pleasures but I'm not sure you would want to marry those flavors in your humidor. |

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
I'm not sure what is meant by humidor filler... cigars to buy just to fill your humi? Do you plan on smoking them?
At this point, I'd rather have a somewhat empty humidor than buy cigars just for the sake of having something in there that I may not enjoy smoking. If I'm way off base here, let me know. As far as machine made goes? there are some some machine made habanos that I enjoy. I'm not up to speed on the machine made domestic cigars unless you're talking about the drug store swishers. I gave those up in high school.

The OP states that he is a value smoker. He wants to fill his humidor. We'll assume that this is because he likes to see a full humidor or realizes that an empty humidor is a harder to regulate than a full one. Or both. We can also assume that he will smoke his value smokes. A decent cheap smoke trumps no smokes at all every time. |

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
The Principes are pretty good. If you get them at auction, can usually be cheap as 50 cents apiece ($12.50 for a box of 25).
Belinda makes a pretty good machine rolled too.

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
Yeah, what I meant by humi-filler was something to help keep the box's RH more stable and something I don't mind ditching after the first half if I don't have time/patience. I was just wondering what experience people had with machine-rolled's. I just realized that the 20 bucks or whatever I'd spend on some could easily go towards something much more enjoyable though... I think Ji's got the right idea... =P
Thanks guys! |

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
Yeah Isaac.. I wouldn't worry too much about filling the humidor with stuff that you may or may not smoke. I enjoy a good value as well, but at the cost of filling up the humidor with good deals I've learned some lessons over the years.
I think most new smokers that are passionate about this past time will go out and purchase as many good deal smokes as they possibly can. I know I did as well as read countless threads of others that have done the same. I started out with a 20 count humi that held the first bundle I bought. I figured I could manage with this. Well of course I couldn't buy many more sticks until I smoked the first bundle down, then I bought a second bundle. It was about this time that I realized a 20 count would not suffice, so I bought a 150 count from Cheaphumidors. Surely this wiill be enough space. Well after countless hours spent researching cigars and finding 5-packs, boxes on Auction, I quickly filled the 150 count humi. Next came the cooler which filled relatively quickly. My stock seemed to rotate a good bit after bombs, getting bombed, running contests, etc. I wasn't quite sure what I enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, there were lots of great smokes that I would often spend a good deal of time trying to figure out what I wanted to smoke that night. Not too long after I bought a small cabinet that had a great singles drawer and space for box storage. Soone after I was looking for more space to pack in more cigars. I ended up with more cigars than I could handle. I finally realized that I needed to be more selective in my purchases if not altogether freeze my purchases for awhile. It makes more sense to me in my selection for smoking now that I've stopped purchasing. There aren't new cigars coming into the mix so I can enjoy what I've stocked over the past few years I think with more scrutiny. My point is that sometimes it's better not to get caught up in filling the cigar space you have, because once you do, you're going to look for more space. I've emptied my cooler, my desktop is pretty bare, and my cabinet is still pretty much stocked. These days I'm enjoying the fewer choices to pick from.

Re: Machine Rolled Anyone?
I enjoy backwoods for a nice quick smoke.
I keep all my backwoods wrapped tightly and sealed in plastic zip-lock bags. |
