Checking the Humidity
I don't smoke everyday, sometimes go 2 or 3 days without smoking. Just wondering how often you guys open your humidor to check the humidity level.
Box stays at 68% pretty steady. Just curious. ![]() ![]()

Re: Checking the Humidity
I'm a once a week smoker myself. However I check the humidor daily. Just to get a sniff or just to admire the collection. That said, I plan on having more than enough beads, active humidification to allow for quick recovery every time I open the cabinet.

Re: Checking the Humidity
i only smoke once or twice a week. i check it every few days, mainly because my humidifier is crap and i need to go buy another one but don't want to drive to the next town/city to a shop. i have the disc humidifier that came with the humi which is crap, the hygro never worked so i just bought a digi from the weather section at wal mart, it has RH and temp in a nice little package. i want something other than the disc type humidifier but there is no room in my little 50 count box, thanks to baba and shuckins!

Re: Checking the Humidity
I only smoke once every week or so, but open my humi at least twice a day to admire. I went overkill on beads though, so humidity isn't a problem.

Re: Checking the Humidity
I check every day each 3 of mine... I only have 1 hygrometer, so I leave it in one box one day, another box 2 days from then, and so on and so forth. Everything's been a little dryer than usual lately, probably because of winter. Stuff's sittin around 61-63 in my main, and a little higher in my overflows. 'Sall good though, I'm sure that 2% rh below what I usually have 'em at isn't horrible. I'll get more beads next time I see them.

Re: Checking the Humidity
I smoke as much as you and only check my humidors when I open them to get a smoke out and when I put them in...one of them I open once every 4 weeks or so to add water to the beads....

Re: Checking the Humidity
I've got one of those Radio Shack Wireless Hygrometers. Transmitter in each humi and receiver by the bed. I check the receiver when I remember to look at it.

Re: Checking the Humidity
LOL
That is a great question. I check my main box (150ct.) about 2x a day. ![]() I check my "everyday" smoke box ( 50ct) . 1x a day.. generally to remove a stick I have designated for smoking . I check my "Infused" Box (50ct.) about 1x a week. ![]() I check my plastic storage jar thingy ( 25ct) ... Only as needed.. No hygro in it.. But have a few tubes of Xikar gel stuff in there I monitor. I open it once in a while to grab a "Yardwork" smoke. ![]() ![]() I need to get 1 larger box I think.. ~ 500+ ct. and Stop Bullshitting around. or ... a NICE BIG cabinet. ~ 1000ct. or Convert the Closet in my developing Mancave.. ~ 7,500ct. ?? |

Re: Checking the Humidity
Truism, that. Heartfelt beads are putting the hygrometer industry out to pasture. Beads are white, you charge them. Beads are clear, you smile and close the lid. No need for stupid numbers anymore.

Re: Checking the Humidity
+1 for the heartfelt beads. I usually only open my humis (100ct and 30ct) when I'm grabbing a smoke, which is usually twice a week... sometimes more, sometimes less. Other than that, if I hit a stretch where I'm sick or just too busy to smoke, they can go 2 weeks or so without getting opened. Good seals and the beads keep that from being a problem. I always like the feeling I get when I open up the humis after a week or two and see that they've been resting in a perfect environment!
