RyJ Habana Reserve

I'm getting a metallic, oven-cleaner taste from this churchill sized one. It's friggin disgusting. Anyone have any feeling on these?

Naw I think it's a bad stick; seems many many other people like it. 8 bucks for 4 sticks is a bargain on most levels! Worse case scenario, give it as a present for the holidays lol

Ironic, I smoked my first one tonight too Isaac! I didn't hate it quite as much as you, it was a little "green" though. Hopefully they just need a little more resting time.

I did that, pretty decent deal. For the price you almost can't go wrong.

I smoke the "Love Story" fairly regularly, because, wierdo that I am, I think it's a fun shape and the flavor is unobtrusive enough for me to concentrate on enjoying that aspect, with nice touches of spice at times. I smoked the robusto size out of that promo deal just a couple of days ago...didn't notice the metallicness, but I chose that cigar again for it's mildness, as I had a cold, and didn't want to waste one of my favorites at a time that I probably wouldn't enjoy it fully anyway. I like the RyJ's, but not for those times when my primary interest is the taste of the cigar.

I am with the age point also. Just let them rest a bit, ammonia with sometimes come through as a metallic taste - at least to me anyway.

I got five tins of the Amores as a J&R special and was very pleasantly surprised. I've actually been looking forward to a full-sized stick. Maybe they need some alone time in the humi before smoking?

That sucks. I have smoked a bunch in the robusto size, and they have been very nice. I have heard good things about the torpedo too.

Robusto doesn't tastes like that.

This blend tastes very different in each size. More so than most other lines. The corona is very bland. The toro is exceptional. I'm not sure how they are so different but they are.

I smoked one last night from a free sampler I got from the company. Very smooth, nice flavor. I'm really beginning to like the RyJ line.
