My First Cigar Event - Carlos Torano Cigars

One of our local (and large) B&Ms, Corona Cigar Company, had Carlos Torano at their store today.

They released a new cigar this week, the Exodus 1959 50 Year (which utilizes a sun grown wrapper). Explained to me as full-bodied, with intense chocolate and spice.

They also had Master Roller Felipe Sosa on-site hand-rolling special cigars for the tour utilizing a special blend. Was very cool to watch. From bunching the long fillers, wrapping the binder, and then cutting, stretching, and applying the outer wrapper. Then top it off with a nice cap. He made it look so simple. And everything he made was so uniform and flawless looking. (ummm... I guess that's why he's the master).

Found a pic on the net of him (same hat too)

I purchased a box of the new Exodus 1959 50 Year. Their shipment didn't arrive for the event, so they only had 3 boxes on site. They offered me a box of the torpedos, which was missing two, and substituted two churchills instead. Came with a limited edition Exodus 1959 sampler, and four sticks rolled by the master roller himself.

So, I have to try one stick tonight, but the rest of my acquisition and the four special sticks are already in the humi.

Here is a pic.

Great pics. I've heard great things on the exodus, thanks to smelvis I now have one and can't wait to light it up.

I wish my first event was as "eventful". It was a so called nub event with a sales rep selling cigars not much to it.

I'm glad you had a good time. I still remember the first event I attended. We had a roller from La Gloria Cubana, and he made rolling cigars look so easy. The cigars I rolled looked like crap! Anyways, nice pics and enjoy the smokes!

Re: My First Cigar Event - Carlos Torano Cigars

Have been to a lot of events and some are better than others. The Venues have a lot to do with the success of the events and when they are presented as a "get together" instead of a sales event they tend to be more enjoyable. I don't like pushy sales Reps telling me I should be buying their cigars and trying to make me feel guilty if I look at them and don't buy. When I started going to events the Reps were so busy putting cigars in your pockets that you had to tell them after awhile you don't have anymore room,,,lol. I know some still do that and I do appreciate that and I end up buying more of their cigars if I like them. Enjoy the events but don't ever feel like you HAVE to buy anything except what you want. If they are a good vendor they will usually "gift" you one if you have never tried their brand.
