I guess I was trying to make comps in terms of strength, construction, and overall bad-assness (but not flavor; I mean, there's no way anybody is confusing a My Father with an Opus X).

So it looks like I agree with your disagreement. But I still like all of the cigars listed better'n the Opus.
I also, further agree about your agreements concerning the previous discussion of disagreements and agree on the principle concept of the "bad-assedness" of the listed cigars.(couldn't resist..all day at work and I am deliriously tired).

In all seriousness though, those are some kickass cigars you mentioned and I would be thrilled to find any Opus anywhere near me for a price close to MSRP (or like most previously mentioned).

Back in the 90's they were coveted but nowadays there are a lot of very good cigars that do not cost as much and you can purchase them anytime and anywhere.

Padron anniversarios are definitely better than an OPUSuX.
It's Habana Hut. Are you the Herman I ran into at Maxis? I hang out at the Habana Hut alot. They have pretty decent prices considering that I can watch football for free there. I'm not really complaining about prices but to add $10 to a $15 stick is kinda ridiculous. So actually I am complaining about prices. Don't get me wrong though, Habana Hut is a cool place to hang out. Their prices are as competitve as Maxi's which is my next closest B&M so I can't really complain. Also I'm pretty sure I pay for the atmosphere of having people to chat with and catching the game there. My next question is should I stick to online shopping for some of the items that I know are way overpriced. And if I do where do I find some of the super premiums? I can't seem to find a good online store that carry Opus X, Anejo, Hemingways. The super premiums from AF are my next favorite smoke after Padron Annis.

I was just at Maxis this evening and the petit lancero is $10 less than what you paid but there is really no smoking area to speak off. Opus X and Anejos are hardly online due to their scarcity. The Hemingways on the other hand can be purchased at online retailers at their MSRP. You could try Holts for AF's or TampaSweethearts.com . And I'm pretty sure others here have other sources. And yes, that was probably me that you ran into at maxis.

I bought a double corona for 22 so it seems like your 25 dollar pricetag was consistant. Question, was the smoke worth it?

lol Thought that was a dbl corona! Joe at Churchills was wrong, the "A" is the largest OpusX made =P. Put a few months if not more on that thing I hear is the wtg man!

Re: Opus X and Anejo

[QUOTE=Flux;2732502]$25 for a petite lancero is way over MSRP. I just paid $13.95 each for three lanceros. The Tinder Box I buy from never raises the price for any of their cigars ... very class act there. If I was a betting man, I would put $5 that you bought them at Cigar.com.

My advice would be to buy some more, if you want, and try and give them at least a half year in your humidor. They smoke a lot better once the oils have married a little. They are a really oily smoke to begin with and I've found that they usually don't burn worth a sh*t when "fresh".[/QUO\

Let us know which tender box you deal with.

I put the Anejo wrappers on Opus. I call it the Anus. Sales have been a little disappointing.

I think he just makes shit up. I don't know about that guy. He seems a little off to me. Just my opinion. Thats where I got the Hemmingway Maduro I had to throw out. Bleh.

It's almost Anejo time. I'm going to be on the prowl.

What happened with the Hemmingway Maduro? A lot of ppl like those i thought? I had a bad experience with a Fuente Sun Grown Chateau, but that was from the Tobacco Mart guy lol. At least he's not Tobacco Mart or that guy in Haddonfield lol. "Wanna mix and match?" "...groaaan..." respectively.

I do have to admit, I think Churchill's inventory is a bit out-dated; seems he caters more towards old-school types and not so much with the fan-fare RP/Pepin stuff. I can guarantee he'll have Anejo's come time, though. He had a bunch of other OpusX's stashed away in that back room :O lol. The 3-4 or 5 pack tins that go for like 70 a pop and a sealed unopened box... Idk, I like him lol. I still miss Light 'N Up though; that lady helped raise me into the tobacco world haha.

Sorry, back OT... lol
