Opus X and Anejo
I couldn't really find information on this. But when do the Opus X and the Anejo normally get released? Also I couldn't find many places that sell them online. I live in NY and the taxes here are fairly high. I had a Opus X Petit Lancero today and I paid $25 for it. I don't even know if it's a good price. Can someone help me please? Thank you for your responses.

Re: Opus X and Anejo
Anejos apparently only get released once a year right after thanksgiving. I found very few online. A 5 pack of anjeos went for something like 95 bucks on cigarbid.com. I got one in a 4 pack from Holts that set me back 40 and the other I have in my collection was given to me for free. I do not know much more about the Opus X line. I have one. I bought a double corona for 22 so it seems like your 25 dollar pricetag was consistant. Question, was the smoke worth it?

Re: Opus X and Anejo
You got a double corona, I got a petit lancero. That's a pretty big size difference. I would have rather paid the $22.50 I normally pay for a Padron 1964 Torpedo. I know that's overpaying as well but I enjoyed all my Padron Anniversary cigars more that the Opus X. It was a good smoke, don't get me wrong but it sure wasn't worth $25.

Re: Opus X and Anejo
$25 for a petite lancero is way over MSRP. I just paid $13.95 each for three lanceros. The Tinder Box I buy from never raises the price for any of their cigars ... very class act there. If I was a betting man, I would put $5 that you bought them at Cigar.com.
My advice would be to buy some more, if you want, and try and give them at least a half year in your humidor. They smoke a lot better once the oils have married a little. They are a really oily smoke to begin with and I've found that they usually don't burn worth a sh*t when "fresh". |

Re: Opus X and Anejo
I was actually talking about at my local B&M. I think they were fairly fresh. It didn't quite burn that well. I only recently started to smoke some of the more expensive stuff. Usually I go with $4-$8 cigars.

Re: Opus X and Anejo
I just paid $15 for a petit lancero, they also had double corona for $22 at the hudson valley cigar bar in orange county, NY
I know that Barclay Rex, Manhattan has some left, and their prices are around the same or a $1 or $2 more |

Re: Opus X and Anejo
That's a bit high for the Opus , But probably not for NY.The taxes there are insane.

Another question in regards to super premium Arturo Fuentes, how rare is Hemingway BTL?

Re: Opus X and Anejo
They are fairly rare...most B&Ms get just 1 box per year and some dont get that...They release them around the beginning of December...

Where is your local B&M ? Havana Hut? Tobacco Plaza? Some B&M's do not have the Opus account and get it through a wholesaler , thus the high mark up. There are a lot of shops that do add a premium on this cigars. Back in the 90's they were coveted but nowadays there are a lot of very good cigars that do not cost as much and you can purchase them anytime and anywhere. Padron anniversarios are definitely better than an OPUSuX. |

Cigars I like better than Opus X
Cigars I like better than Opus X that share some Opus X characteristics (strength, spice, construction quality), all of which are substanially cheaper than Opus (with exceptions noted**).
Don't you love it when things you like turn out to be good for you? Tatuaje Don Pepin Garcia My Father Ashton VSG Padron 1926 (the entire line, especially the 40 and the new 45)** Anejos** Oliva Series V EO 601 Green San Cristobal Almost any CC I've ever tried (and yes, they're cheaper) Felipe Gregorio Power Padilla Miami 8/11 original blend |

Re: Cigars I like better than Opus X
REALLY
R E A L L Y...... I have to disagree here. The cigars on your list that I have smoked reminded me nothing of a FFOX....well perhaps the Anejo. Then again it's all in the buds of the taster.....or something like that.hahaha Quote:
