i'm guessing that box with the line is an Oasis XL with the ribbon power. i just got a Pelican case for my travel humidor and an Oasis XL to keep it humidified. |

I guessing that in LV they were talking about sealing a wooden humidor's external case not the cedar lining. Wood does have considerable movement as the humidity changes and I can only imagine that there are considerable forces at work on a dor when the RH outside is 20% and inside is 70%. Thus sealing the humidor case of the dor must help to protect the wood. The black box on the shelf is exactly what "hatred" stated is an Oasis XL humidification device. Again not necessary but nice in that you fill it with distilled water plug it in and it will regulate the humidity. The oasis works very well but a less costly alternative might be the humidification beads that many have had great success with. My remote temp/humidity device is exactly a weather station type device made by "Taylor". I happened to buy if from http://www.comforthouse.com/thermometer1.html but most any brand will do as long as its digital. Just make sure you calibrate it when you get so you will have some idea how much the readings are off if any. Again you don't have to use a lot of cedar, use an electronic humidifier, or a remote hygrometer to create a very effective coolerdor to store your stogies. I'm just a gadget geek and like to play with these things. Lastly, I like your plexiglass hole idea hummm.... Since the cooler walls naturally have insulation between them and are fairly thick, how could I clean up the cut edges to make it look pleasing? Keep the question and/or debate coming, its fun to talk about things I'm passionate about with like minded people.

Surprising that is concept that I have not thought about. ...And naturally one can't have an empty humidor so filling it up will be fun. Oh the wheels are turning now.Man, theromulus, you've just made my day! ![]()
