Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

Hey all. I just recieved my shipment of gear from Viper, and i must say i am extremely impressed!

I have charged the beads in my 4oz 70% tube, but now i dont know how or where to put it in my singles humidor...

right now i just have it standing inside upright, but i cant put my tray in because the tube is too tall. i cant figure out how to place the tube inside.

I wanted to see if someone can help me out.

Should i keep the tube on the bottom, or on the top tray?

Is it okay for the tube to lay on top of cigars? will it harm anything, or give too much moisture to the ones its laying on? will it be too heavy to lay on them?

If i put the tube on the top tray laying down like a cigar, will the bottom cigars get enough humidity?

The humidor has a bit over 100 singles in it, so its pretty much full.

Im open to ANY ideas. thanks guys, much appreciated.

here is my what my humi looks like, this is the 100 ct version, mine is 125 and looks slightly different, but basically the same.

Maybe attach it to the lid somehow?

I would take the beads out of the heartfelt tubes and put them in a stocking. Then put the stocking inside the black humidifier that you already have. RGD had a great thread on it here.

Stick it up your a$$.. oh wait, wrong type of beads! Those aren't Dustin's beads!

Anyway, you can put the tube wherever you want. The tube can lay on top of cigars (mine does).. it is not too heavy, nor will it over moisten the ones it's in contact with. My personal recommendation is to split the beads roughly 60/40 bottom to top (Since there are fewer smokes on the top tray)... For splitting them, you can use anything from old pantyhose to the nice mesh bags that viper sells, to (my personal favorite) old cigar tubos with holes punched in em. I've got about an ounce on top and about 2 ounces on the bottom (overkill, I know).. and never have an issue.. I have put two calibrated hygros in my humi, just to check.. the RH consistently stays at 65% on both the top and bottom. Hope that helps!

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I was actually thinking of suspending it to the lid some how, but it would hang too low. i dont like the way i have it now, standing upright in the corner.

I have a divider in the middle in the bottom part, so i think i'll go the pantyhose route, put 2oz on the left, and 2oz on the right. then maybe 2 more oz on the upper tray. i bought 1/2 lb, so i got some to spare.

I wish i coulda used the tube, but its just too crammed in there now.

thanks again fellas!

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

I've got one more question. i have a few drymistat tubes from a couple years ago and i was wondering if its kosher to use the tubes with beads? i read the thread with all the different ways to use beads, but i wonder if the beads can perform properly with only the tip of the tube that has holes in it?

Cause i know Vipers tube have holes all around....

anyways, i think i'll just used pantyhose but i figured how well the drymistat tubes work with beads.

thanks.

A few members on here use the drymistat tubes with beads. I think most were poking a few extra holes in them though.

I just toss mine in the humi. Way my humi's work is a like closed system. Once the lid is closed the gars and inside air don't know where a water source is coming from-the moisture is distributed evenly.

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

ok, i dont know whether or not its time to start complaining yet, but i think i may have a problem.

I left the 4oz tube in my humi overnight at the bottom, and this afternoon, it read the same as it did before i went to bed. i have a digital gauge in each of the two windows on my humi, they were tested with the boveda tester, both are almost 100% accurate.

The left is 64%, the right is 68%. My beads are of course 70%.

On the upper tray you can see that i have a Viper tube filled. The top of the humi reads 67%. it hasnt budged.

Am i missing something here? Does it look like i'm doing something wrong?

Anyone help please, if this doesnt work, i'll go back to my trusty diamond crown and drymistat tubes.

thanks

i dont see a problem with either numbers.. you need to think of all the variables in keeping humidity at a PERFECT 70%.. Viper's beads are great, but they cannot keep a humi, with cigars, at a perfect humidity ALL The time.. There are variants like temperature, air movement, how many times u open the box, how fresh the cigars are when they are put in the humidor. In my opinion, both of the humidity levels u are reporting are perfect. I dont think too many people here will disagree with keeping the humidity closer to 65 degrees anyway! thats where mine are. your temperature appears to be a little high though.

just my

oh and by the way, GIMME ALL YOUR PADRONS!! they are unsafe in that unstable humidor.......just kidding!

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

shouldnt i be worried about the left side though? Im just bewildered why the left and right are so different, and why the left refuses to budge.

my temp is a tit bit high i know, but its so beautiful outside, always once 75 creeps, i put the a/c on....

should i add more bead to the bottom? 1 more pantyhose pouch?

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

stop freaking out dude.. you are totally fine, SERIOUSLY!!! This is not meant to be rude, but just a little advice for ya.. You need to realize that cigars are a hobby, not a job, not a responsibilty.. This is supposed to be more of a relaxing hobby then most other hobbies.. You are stressing about meaningless numbers that have been shoved down your throat by old school people that want to stress out about humi levels and temps.. Just chill out, grab a cigar, cut it, and smoke it.. seriously! you will take all the fun out of cigar collecting/smoking if you stress over one side of your 18 inch wide humidor and its variance from the other side..

Keep the temp as close to or below 70 degrees. Keep the humidity as close to or below 70 degrees. PERIOD! some people like the smokes at 70, some like them at 65 some like them at 72, some like them at 68. do you know what it all adds up to???? NOTHING!! smoke the cigars, and stop stressing bro. Your humidity is fine.. ! on the left, right, top and bottom.

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

here are readings from my 3 hygrometers in my wine fridge

shelf 1 --- 64.2 degrees f / 66.1 % humi

shelf 2 --- 64.4 degrees f / 66.8 % humi

shelf 3 --- 64.7 degrees f / 67.4 % humi

no worries bro!

Re: Need help with placement of Heartfelt tube please

i feel you, its just that im used to them being statistically perfect, or very close. in the winter, the rh dips to basically 65% level, they still taste great, but i prefer tthem a bit higher. i was really hoping that the beads would help me out in the winter time. we'll see.

for now, i'm just going to let it be for a while, see what happens. a lot of the sticks i have in there are almost 2 years old so, i tend to be very nazi about the gauges.
