You're absolutely right about Riata. I haven't tried the others.
I actually like the JR Cuban Alternative to the Cohiba Robusto. Most I've had were well constructed and tasty. Though obviously not the highest quality tobacco.

I love Macanudo Maduros but have never had a "straight" Mac. That said, the two worst I've had so far were an Antonio Y Cleopatra Grenadier and (to my surprise) a non-Cuban Montecristo. I lit it up one spring afternoon and it did NOTHING for me...I finally dumped it halfway through.

I did just buy a fiver of Java's by Drew Estate from PuffDaddy, though I had bad experiences with the Acids. I've heard good things.
I had my first (and absolute LAST) acid last week. One of my cigar buddies asked why I would smoke something marked "NASTY"...boy did he have a point!

Re: Dog Rockets

I haven't tried Puros Indios Special Pyramides in awhile, but I remember liking them a lot. I've had a couple of Indian Tabacs and liked them as well.

I guess your dog rocket might be someone else goto gar.

As for my dog rockets, I've smoked two Flor Del Todo that never got past the first quarter. I still have a 3 more sticks that I am keeping in my humidor. I've tried a couple of flavored cigars. Never liked a single one of them.

I started a Drew Estate Natural Clean Robusto the other night. I thought I was gonna . I gave it to my friend and he smoked it to a nub. Told him I would give him the rest.

At least they will get smoked and enjoyed.

Re: Dog Rockets

Gispert has some construction problems, but for $2 I don't think they're too bad for a mild cigar. I also like Indian Tabac Super Fuerte, go figure.

Worst cigars I've ever had (in no specific order):
Any Thompson house brand
Las Cabrillas
Drew Estate La Vieja Habana

Like they say, if everybody had the same taste, but Drew Estate La Vieja Habana is one of the best cigars I have tried in any price range.

Bill, whats your thoughts on the Roly's I sent you? Not my cup of tea, but I don't really care for much from Puros Indios anyhow.

Personally, i cant stand smokes that have that 'nutty' and 'toasty' flavor to them. it basically nauseates me. plus in my experience, it always leads to an ashtray like finish as well.

Then again, when it comes to lighter smokes, i'm a picky ass. Dunhill or Diamond Crown only.
