Sometimes it's just better to walk away

Well, last night the wife and I went down by the water to enjoy a nice walk after an awesome italian dinner. This was my plan for after dinner so I brought a AF Work of art with me to smoke while we were on our walk. So as we were enjoying our walk When an older gentelman came up to me and asked what I was smoking. After telling him he replies with "It's to bad cigars are not made in Cuba anymore." So me being curious and kind of an instigator I naturally responded "What do you mean?" Well with the embargo in place they took all the seeds to Honduras and grow and roll all cuban cigars there. That's why the cuban seeds are tainted now and you can't get a true cuban cigar anymore. "Uh huh." Well he tried schooling me of his knowledge in further detail, but I just responded with a "We have to go, have a nice night." After walking away, even my wife looked at me and said "What a moron." Just thought I would share and let you guys get some enjoyment out of my experience.

I hear all kinds of stories around the B and M here. Amazing what comes out of people's mouths. I tend to just sit there and listen and try not to laugh out loud at times.

I once heard from my local B&M owner, "when I was in Cuba all I saw were cargo containers at their ports, what do you think they were filled with, honduran tobacco." yeah right, sure. I actually use my taste buds when smoking and their is certainly a difference.

Re: Sometimes it's just better to walk away

When I first began investigating NC's I went to a B&M and asked the fella there what he would recommend. I told him I liked all Cubans and was looking for something, while not necessarily the same, something generally accepted as being well received by those who enjoy the Cuban flavor. He told me he never liked Cubans, they are too strong and tried to sell me some Macanudos. F#$%ing moron.

Good story. Thanks.

Sounds like my eye doctor telling me not to go with laser surgery (Lasik + me = no more 80 dollar contacts and 120 dollar checkups). Ive noticed a lot of B&M guys and tobacconists in the States overly downplaying Cuban cigars (a lot of the time assuming youve never had one ) they end up sounding silly. They should accept that like NCs they can be the best in the world "at that moment" and the worst. Same with any other puro

Great story thanks!

I just have to chime in here and call a foul.

When someone approaches you and talks to you, about anything, it's a nice thing. I think it should to happen more often because it makes for a friendlier world. This older gentleman was wrong but deriding him as a "moron" on a public forum just shows no class.

If you take the time to re-read my thread it said my wife called him a moron. No where in my thread did I write, Guess what some moron told me. I agree with your friendlier world outlook, but I for one find it hysterical when people try to preach what they do not know on you, and I just thought I would share a funny story that I figured most here would enjoy. I guess I should go home and beat my wife because she upset you. J/K Seriously though, take a chill pill there. You don't happen to feel the same way and happened to be vacationing on Long Island this past week were you? J/K Couldn't resist. OK let's all play nice now.
