Re: What would you do?
Tell him to go down to the ocean, walk out, and dont stop until his hat is floating....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to be against the rules of eBay. This seems more than a little unscrupulous, and I would consider looking into whether or not that is allowed. $45 seems WAY too much to pay, especially considering that a number of regular online retailers offer free shipping. Drop him, forget the purchase, and make sure you get your money back. And consider reporting him to eBay. |

Re: What would you do?
Talking to an ebay rep would be the best bet, I think.

Now, if the guy is a personal friend, or you are feeling particularly generous, by all means, send him some cash, but this seems to me more like a case of Px3 (piss poor planning) on his part. Just my ![]() EDIT: Wiseguy1982 has a good point, contact an Ebay rep. too... |

Re: What would you do?
I would not vary from the final deal bid/deal in any way. If he will not abide by his own final deal, I'd report him to Ebay. It's HIS fault if he didnt' estimate the shipping correctly, not yours!

Re: What would you do?
Shipping was 15. I told him basically if he doesnt send it for that price, just send a refund. Otherwise if he doesnt i will just do a ****** complaint and they will take care of it asap.

Re: What would you do?
If he sent you a shipped total, it's on him to honor the deal even if he screwed up and underestimated shipping.
Word to the wise though, since it's a remote purchase from an individual, don't push too hard or he may tell you to pound sand, and the chances you will ever get your funds back, ebay rep or not, are vanishingly slim. Trust me, I've been there. I recommend you politely say you can't pay any more and remind him that he quoted a specific price and should stick by it. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts he's trying to ship with USPS Priority, and with heavy items that will give you sticker shock. Offer to compromise by accepting UPS ground. Far cheaper; everyone wins. Also, now is a great time to ask that he package it extra super dooper well. If the guy doesn't know enough to get an accurate quote, he's probably gonna pack it for shit and it will arrive broken. You wouldn't believe some of the packing jobs I've seen...wadded up newspaper surrounding a BMW differential for instance ![]()

Re: What would you do?
Wiseguy is right, first and foremost you need to email ebay services because there is only a certain amount of time after the sale is made that they can intervene. I got screwed once and I emailed ebay 2 days after their "grace period" was over and was stuck with a broken ipod and out $245

![]() I've had to come out of my pocket to ship something on eBay before. Hell... I've given a couple things away, & basically paid them to take it off my hands. It sucks, but... That's part of it. |

Re: What would you do?
+1 on this. I've had to suck it up and lose money on selling items. That is the deal I advertised so that is the deal I give the buyer. Unfair otherwise because they bid in good faith. Not the buyers fault that I screwed up and lost money.

+2. Not your problem, if he won't honor the deal then ask for a refund and report him.

Re: What would you do?
I agree with most here. I would not pay almost 200% of the purchase price to ship the item.
