Ready for Spring Break! Cutter on the plane?

Well I am heading to Fort Myers beach for the next week and couldn't not bring some sticks with me. Here is all I am taking, can't wait to enjoy one of these babies on the boat! Does anyone know the real rule on taking a cutter on a plane, I have found a lot of conflicting information.

Re: Ready for Spring Break! Cutter on the plane?

The TSA list that I saw used to specifically allow cigar cutters, but it appears as though that item has been removed from the list. I'm assuming this puts it in a kind of grey area where it would depend on the screener. I'd just put one in your checked luggage, and clip one or two of those before you get on the plane, just in case you happen to have an opportunity to smoke one before you have access to your cutter again.

I just had TSA look at my palio cutter that was in my carry on. It was cleared. I have had a lighter confiscated, however.

Re: Ready for Spring Break! Cutter on the plane?

I travel a lot on just about every airline and go thru TSA and a typical cutter will make it just fine. If you have a cutter that has other items on it that do more than cut cigars like a swiss army knife kind of thing they will probably confiscate it. Just get a cheap cutter and you shouldn't have any worries.

Re: Ready for Spring Break! Cutter on the plane?

I've heard of people having cutters taken. Since they don't list it either way, I think they're basically saying they can take it if they want.

If it was me, I'd just grab a cheapy plastic black one. If they take it, your out less than a $. Plus I don't think they will take one of those.

I can just picture someone using a cigar cutter as a weapon. "Stand back or I give the pilot one hell of nick!" If it's one of the scissor cutters, I'd leave it at home(or try to convince them that it's for manicures). You could try a punch cutter(just not one of the bullet ones) or pick up a cheap one when you reach your destination.

Hope this rain stops before you get down here. I'm about 30mi from FMB. We're at 1.20" for today and it is still coming down hard.
BTW, the 'World Famous Cigar Bar' is just a couple miles from the airport (RSW).

Re: Ready for Spring Break! Cutter on the plane?

Why not just put it in your checked luggage which is allowed? When I travel that's what I do and it's never been a problem.

However, I always travel with a cheap cutter in case one of the TSA bag inspectors is a cigar smoker and is a dishonest person. Don't want to lose my precious Palio!

I travel with a cutter all the time in my carry on bag. I have never been questioned. I admit though that I still don't carry my Palio on board.

a cutter is not an issue but get yourself a Ronson torch lighter at your port of destination.
