Welcome to the Jungle. I would tell you to check out the Newbie Sampler Thread and the Newbie Pay it Forward thread. Good way to meet some people and try out some new smokes.

Welcome to Club Stogie!! As far as good deals, you may want to sample the La Flor line for a nice medium to full bodied smoke-most sticks are around $5. Another great cheap stick I had recently was a Quorum (think I spelled that right): a nice smoke at about $2.50 a stick!

Only buy the Thompson brand of cigars if you have an enemy you'd like to kill off slowly and you know he/she would smoke them. They'd also most likely already be brain dead. If not, they will be by the time they are done with them. Thompson = NO.

On the other hand, dont hesitate buying other brands THROUGH Thompson... I have had good luck with them on other brands, just not their own.

Re: Another newbie looking for advice

Welcome! As some of the others have suggested just go to cigarbid and get some 5 packs or samplers there. Good luck.

Dont pull the Trigger Man........If you want to try a Thompson cigar let me know and I'll send you one, but I'm warning you, closing your eye's at Walgreen's and choosing a cigar may get you a better smoke. PM me if you dare, I have just a few left .

Cool Re: Another newbie looking for advice

Welcome, sit down and light yourself a smoke and enjoy life.

'Life is to short to smoke a cheap cigar"

TC sticks are for those you have advanced from the 7-11's, but not yet made it to a real smoke

You offering to me? LOL. No thanks. I'm still trying to find uses for the TC cigars I still have. Maybe I'll pop a squirrel, cram a firework inside a TC cigar, stick the cigar up the squirrel's ass.... nevermind. Too much work. I'll probably just smoke the ones that are so-so and toss the rest. I dont know yet. Wont be buying anymore from Thompson anytime soon though. Maybe if they have a killer deal on a REAL brand. Other than that, I'm staying far away from Thompson branded cigars.

Just so everyone knows, I am a DIFFERENT Thompson and am *not* responsible for the manufacture of horrible cigars!!!

Just sayin'...

I have been know to remove the bands and take them out of the cello, then carry them with me for my mooch friends who the only way they know the difference between a Phillies Blunt and a Partagas is the Partagas is missing that strawberry flavor. When theey light them up and ask me where I got these, I just smile and say, I really can't say. It's not my fault they assume they come from someplace outside of the country.

Re: Another newbie looking for advice

Ahh, Cleveland...The Mistake by the Lake. Please tell me you're not a Browns fan.

In all seriousness, for a great stick at a good price, try 5 Vegas. They have four different lines, and each can be had on CigarBid for about $1.50-$2.50 per stick (in fivers and boxes). I like the classic line torpedos and all of the Series 'A', in particular.

You can't go wrong with the Padron X000's, as someone stated above, and the 2000's are about $3.50. If you're willing to buy in larger quantities, they get even cheaper (I recently bought a box of 25 3000's for $2.88/stick - a sale at BillboardTobacco.com).

The CAO Brazilias are great, particularly the Samba, but it retails for about $5.25, which is getting out of the "bargain" section. But you can get them for about $3.25 on longashes2u.com. In fact, I'd recommend going to longashes2u.com and choosing a bunch of singles - their singles prices are second to none. That way you try a wide variety without committing to a bunch of cigars you may not like.
