Red face Another newbie looking for advice

Greetings from Cleveland! New to the group and cigars. Went to my local smoke shop and sampled some Montesinos, Padrons, Oliva Grand Cameroons and a Punch Rare Corojo. Kinda enjoyed that Punch! Oliva was up there also. Trying to refine my taste buds. Any other suggestions for the budget minded? How are those Thompson samplers. I keep getting the mailers but can't seem to pull the trigger. I'm afraid to ruin my newbie taste buds.

First of all, welcome to CS

As far as budget type smokes go, give the CAO Brazalia and Italia a shot. I think they are very good for the price.

NEVER BUY Thompsons.

Check out cigarbid.com for great prices on 5 packs and samplers.

Re: Another newbie looking for advice

From the looks of it, you like Med. bodied stuff. The monesino is an Arturo Fuente Product. Try some of the AVO products like the XO. Most all of the Torano products are Med Bodied. In that line I would recommend the 1916, Exodus silver and the Virtuoso. Padron annys are just like crack. Once you smoke a couple, you are hooked and can't get enough of them.

Stay VERY far away from the Thompson samplers.

Welcome to cs!!!
There are a lot of great smokes that are great in price and still have great characteristics.
Camacho-corojo
H-upmann-vintage camaroon
Padron-any of the 1000 series
Cusano-18year
Fonseca-5-50
La Gloria-R series

I would suggest to search cigarbid for 5 packs. That way you build up a taste for what you like. With out spending the cash on a box. Also find out the blends. Then you have a better info on what u like

so far all great suggestions, most of all which is "never buy thompson", but most of all I suggest you go down to your local B&M and like night of the living dead go suck on someone's brain ...but make sure you wash it down with a nice smoke, might I suggest El Rey Del Mundo cheers and welcome to the jungle!

Re: Another newbie looking for advice

The devil site, my friend-go there now...I bought some Rocky Patel Vintage 1990's at about $3 a smoke-and they are nice smokes. Lots of goodies there and be careful not to over bid. R&J Vintage III are a nice medium smoke but I paid about $6 for those....hmmm, come to think of it...I've paid $6 for all the great smokes I have had...Fuentes are good medium smokes as well.

A few great smokes there Bob. The Oliva Grand Cameroons and Padron x000 series are 2 VERY good value cigars IMO.
