i work for a photographer doing most of the editing and what not...and i tell ya what...those are some sweet pics. looks like you did a good job. my hats off to you.

I did shoot them in color. The rebel I have will only shoot color, but after adjusting the contrast, photoshop does a great job of converting to B & W

Wow great pictures-you have a good eye. have you considered doing some pictures involing smoke/smoking cigars as smoke is an incredibly interesting device in pictures-some special mystique etc
Also have you considered photoshopping those pics so that all is B&W except for the cigars which keep their normal colour-that cn be quite interesting to grab attention etc
