Good and Bad

The good: This weekend I was able to try some cigars that I hadn't smoked before:

Padron 2000
LGC Reserva Figurados Felicias Maduro
Camacho Corojo Monarca
Camacho Coyolar Rothschild
Hoyo Dark Sumatra Espresso

The bad: Every one of them was a lip burner. Now I want more!

At this rate, someone is going to have to hold a telethon in my honor to keep me out of the poor house!

Joe... Your "Notoriously Cheap Bastard" tag line betrays your cigar selections!!

Very nice sticks! I'm envious!!!

Just because I'm cheap doesn't mean my tastes are!

Plus, a guy has to treat himself occasionally...

Well, I was hanging out with some friends and didn't take notes, but I'll do what I can. May have to pick up another one to make sure my memory is correct.

Visually, this was a beautiful cigar with a very dark, slightly toothy wrapper. Pre-light draw was perfect and gave hints of the strength to come. Thank goodness I had just eaten.

First few puffs were a slap in the face. This is not a cigar for the faint of heart! Once I got over the initial shock to my system, I began to pick up hints of leather and spice, along with a "smoky" taste that went well with my glass of Glenlivet. Overall, it wasn't an extremely complex cigar, but it did make for a tasty, "macho" smoke that was able to stand up to the steak dinner that I had earlier in the evening quite well.

I've read some mixed reviews on this cigar: smokers who enjoy strong cigars love this cigar while people who prefer milder smokes are scared to death of it. Since I like the bolder, full-bodied cigars, I really enjoyed it. Would really love to put some of these away for a year or two to see how they develop.

Simple review - damn good! If you like a good, stout cigar, pick this one up.

Joe,

Every one of those sticks are tops in my book. Well done! I think the LGC Felicias is an especially nice treat!
