I've only been smoking for just under a year, however I can tell you the cigars that have improved greatly since I initially purchased them. Generally you'd want the stronger blends for aging as they will mellow out in time. My picks would be:
Padron x000 line (more specifically 3000 and 4000 maduro)
    Ashton VSG
My Father (original) - This one improved considerably for me.

This is a great thread! I would definitely be curious about some great sticks to stash away for a couple years and pull them out for my college graduation or a good accomplishment of some fine, curious to what everyone suggests!

I agree, those are my top 3 NC's.
    #1 Anejo
    #2 Opus
    #3 VSG

    all in that order.

Padron's are great smokes too but thet don't need the age to be outstanding.

This pretty much sums it up. At least for me who smokes these pretty much daily. I have heard the Maria Mancini Magic Mountains age well. I have one with 5 years on it so I guess I will find out. btw thanks Ray!

There just aren't that many NC's that will benefit from aging,,except for what has already been posted. Most NC's have a shelf life of about a year..some less some more. If you rest most of them for longer than a year they tend to get to mild for my tastes.

I have smoked Opus-X and Padron Anni's with 3 years on them. They take on a more creamy texture the flavors are very well melded for lack of a better term. IMHO don't expect to see great changes in complexity or strength. In fact i have found the opposite is true. These cigars come very well aged already. Unlike Cubans which are young and green. And benefit the most at 3-5 years. As Gary has already stated to mild for my tastes.

I have a box of Anejo 49s aging from 2009 right now. Here's what I would age:

    Anejo Shark or 49
Opus Shark or Reserva d'Chateau or A
(never had a VSG so can't comment on them)
Viaje Exclusivo blend (DES, Robusto, etc.) or Holiday Blend

Gary, I think you meant to say, they reach their peak at about a year.
While I do not totally agree with less, the getting milder is what I enjoy on aging some of the stronger cigars. I think their aroma and smell increase, but the harshness and strongness dissipates
I think the upmanns age very well, as well as the hemmingways.

I think thats what I like about a long rest.

I'll age them long enough for them to stabilize from wherever they came from, but then their fair game. Whether it's a five dollar or twenty five dollar stick, if it needs age on my part to make much of a difference; I won't be buying them again. My point is when I recieve them , as a consumer, I expect the quality to be near it's peak.

I've only been smoking for 8 months now. So I don't have a lot of experience aging cigars. I'm going to try these:
    1. Anejo Shark
    2. Work of art maduro

Tatuaje Noellas and Regios are exceptional after 3 - 5 years.
