Starting A university cigar club...Help?

I am going to attempt to start an Offical Missouri State University cigar club. Has anyone started or been a member of a U. cigar club? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I started one on the facebook for my college but there doesnt seem to be much interest which sucks.

Good luck...most college students drink either Beast Light or Busch Light...not what I would call an aficianado's beer. I can't even start one in my law school. I've got a lot of interest, but no one will take the first step. I've even offered for some Cuban box splits and no one will join in.

We have one on facebook but that is pretty much it. I do know a great many cigar smokers and we get together on occassion but nothing formal. It's a shame we can't seem to get anything more structured put together.

At Tulane an official club recieves substantial university funding (after the first year) so I suspect they would frown on tobacco related groups. I know there is a long lived wine tasting group that remains informal though I am sure they have tried to become an official club so the odds of succesfully founding a cigar club are slim.

I am a member of one at my school. We have weekly meetings at a cigar bar downtown. We also have bi annual formal events where we get cigar reps to give out samplers for a door entry fee. Also the occasional poker tourny for prizes. Most of it is done on facebook though.

They also have a deal with a local B&M to get BU students 10% off. But thats because the owner used to go to BU.

There is also quite a bit of university funding from it.

Best way to do it i find is to get one or two friends round, get them into it, then they get friends into etc. also-offer free beer and pizza to start with and combine it with something like poker or comedy nights.

Getting a group together isn't difficult, at least not at TU, getting club status through the university (and the funding that comes with it) is.
