So anyway I just got done freezing everything - every single smoke that I have - which included buying a Rival Food Saver and packing them all up. Unpacked everything yesterday - and today the freaking A/C goes out. Damn compressor is not even running.
88 degrees in the house and the coolers, humis are all running high 70's now. Only thing I know to do at this point is to bag everything back up and find refrig space for it all. Man this sucks -  Ron |

If youre sure youve frozen well-id just be tempted to ride out the heat storm if you know A/C is going to be up and running soon. all the beetles should be dead!

Ron, if I recall, the recommendation was to let the cigars thaw slowly by putting them in the refrigerator anyway. I think you did the right thing by accident.

Sorry to hear 'bout the A/C !! At least you were home when it happened !! Better than finding out after getting home from work or something !! Either way it's frustrating and nerve-wracking trying to find suitable cool short term housing. Bet that shop is worth every penny now !!!!!!

How about this for a cure:
My parent's A/C (less than 2 years old) went down this weekend for the second time to the same cause. Ants!! The lack of moisture is causing them to invade the A/C compressor on the outside of the house, and they are getting into the electronics between the contact points that activates the outside unit. On advise of A/c man, took the cover off to the electronics portion, tapped on the relay where the main positive power feed connects, knocked the damn ants out of place, contact made up, compressor kicked on. Liberally sprayed ant poison around area and on metal around electronics. Check the compressor and see if you notice a trail of ants going in and out. |

I had the same concern with ants in my compressor. I had a lot of poison liberally applied and i found a literal trail of ants running for their life. Someone else told me a similar story which caused me to take preventive measures (i didn't have AC failure yet).
