The RG ding from me was solely about this thread, the slamming of the U.S.A. and using this forum to do it. It has nothing to do with hate.

Just don't think i was taking his side or trying to give you a hard time, because that wasn't my intent. I have a lot of respect for you, but also think that someone who presents an opinion in a civil manner, agree with it or not, doesn't deserve a ding.

Silly? Maybe. Disrespectful? No. Political? For some people, everything is a reason to bash the USA. How someone could make a political connection here, well like I said, some people...

ISOM was a "code word" that some paranoid people once used to talk about (illegal) Cuban cigars without using the word "Cuban". For the most part, everyone knows what ISOM means now, so it's kind of a waste to keep using the term. Of course, now the term has taken on a life of it's own and is now a part of many a cigar smoker's lexicon. If you let people's use of the term bother you, you've got some problems.

No offense taken brother. I just take it personally when someone disses America. I can't just stand around and let someone bad mouth her without saying something. I do respect and defend the rights of civil disobedience that we are allowed to demonstrate in this country. There is no other place quite like it. Perhaps an RG ding was too harsh, I don't know, but I'm sticking with it.

To a large degree, I agree with this. His posting was a bit pompous and somewhat uninformed, but not deserving of being painted as a pedophile. We have folks here who are just as bothered by the use of the term, but we don't trash them.

I don't know the person, though maybe I "know" them in the online sense, but It sounds to me like he was just ranting and a newbie ended up on the receiving end of his rant.

If I understood correctly this was all about the guy taking issue with the term ISOM (I happen to think it a tacky abbreviation, but what ever). In kind people have taken issue with this guy for taking issue with the term. Very original.

If true that he is not a member, it hardly seems right to take him to task, at least he expressed his feelings in front of the person they were directed to. I am not sure why Catalyst dragged it over here. Why not take the issue back to where it orginated and say what needs to be said where he will see it and can respond?

Sounds reasonable to me, although I don't think it was catalyst taking him to task. I seem to recall from his first post that he was concerned and worried that he offended someone and apologized on the "other" board. I think he merely asked if we thought it was a degrading term. I don't think he deserves being flamed anywhere for that.
