Well today, I posted in a MySpace Cigar group regarding my spending habit on cigars, and I touched on the subject of Cuban cigars. I made the mistake of reffering to them as ISOM's and he kinda went off on me...

Damn I really hate it when uneducated cigar smokers think it is cool to totally disrespect a Sovereign Nation and product. Anyone that uses the Term "ISOM" is plain silly, uneducated, and just disrespectful. People smoke cigars, if they are from Cuba, then they are Cuban cigars. What is so hard about that? No one is fooling "the Man" by stupid "Internet speak" It absolutely drives me crazy to see people disrespect Cuba and Cuban cigars by calling them that silly word that has no meaning as well as being totally stupid!

I apologized to him to make sure waters were calm, but I ask you CS gorillas...
Is "ISOM" a degrading term in your opinion?

You weren't owned. Does a country that has a dicatator for life deserve respect? Does a country with that self-appointed dictator, who doesn't allow free speech or freedom of the press, deserve respect? Does a country who doesn't allow it's citizens to travel freely outside it's borders deserve respect? When Cuba allows more than one political party, and has free and open democratic elections, then maybe I'll get past the ISOM moniker. Until then, it'll be viewed as nothing more than it is....a closed society ruled by dicatator with an iron fist over the subjugated populace.

What does calling a Cuban cigar an ISOM have to do with being uneducated? There are people on here that use that term whose knowledge would embarrass this pisshole egomaniac. Sounds like a bastard cigar snob to me and I would have laid into him like he stole something. A "Sovereign Nation"? Speedmaster is right - somebody tell me what Cuba, as a nation, has done to deserve that level of respect. The oppressed citizens of Cuba deserve our sympathy but there is probably a high percentage of them that would still spit on American soil. By all means, let's respect them.

Exactly. At the end of the day, its just a damn cigar. Who gives a rat's ass what anyone calls it. If they get that bent out of shape over it, then walk the other way.

My personal preference is to call them Cubans, but I could care less what other people say.
