La Perla Habana Black Pearl Rojo

I'm halfway through a 10-pack of La Perla Habana Black Pearl Rojo. I really enjoy these, a nice medium-full flavor.

But, although 3 of the 5 I've tried have been excellent, the other two had serious problems in the construction department. 1 that canoed on me from the start and just refused to play right, even though I had to re-clip and relight twice. Another one, last night, had a very dry wrapper, torn in multiple places. It was so bad I thought maybe something had gone awry with my humidor. I threw it away and tried another one. The 2nd one was perfect. Since all 5 were purchased together, and stored together, I don't think it's a humidor problem.

Has anyone else had construction/consistency problems with this cigar? I purchased them from CBid.

Yes but only with the first one I smoked from a box I bought; they were still wet, I smoked em too soon. They are fine now and are a very good smoke.

I think I have a couple of Black Pearls burried in my humi. These were from a sampler "won" on the devil site last year. Wasn't a big fan of them at the time. My tastes have changed some and these sticks now have a little more age on them ... maybe it's time to give one another try.

I got a fiver of them for Fathers day and have only smoked one. It was a little young but exactly what I look for in a cigar, cheap, textbook Nic tobacco and easy to find.

You won't be disappointed; they get better with age. I had one while mowing my lawn earlier, and it was great! Fire that bad boy up!

Re: La Perla Habana Black Pearl Rojo

I love em. I got one from txmatt and he said it had a year of age on it. It was awesome. I picked up 3 5'ers from CBID and have them resting in my humi. I have smoked 3 of them from the 15 and they both were perfect.

I would say that is was just one of those things with a handmade product. If you like them, keep smoking them.

Re: La Perla Habana Black Pearl Rojo

I've smoked many of the Rojos.....the Toros and Super Toros. I did run through a stretch of a few bad ones together but, on the whole, it's been a well constructed stick. I also got mine through CBid and bought a box of the Super Toros through them.
