Re: Salt Testing my Hygrometers...

You should be pretty good now, but it can't hurt if you want to go a few more hours, maybe up to 12.

So when you get readings from your humi(s) you will add 2 to the percent ...but I'm sure you already knew that.

Re: Salt Testing my Hygrometers...

yep add 2%. One of my rad shack was reading 73 when I first got it but after testing it again recently it reads 74. I would leave it in another 3 hours just to make sure its a legit 73.

The analog one sounds like it would be a great paper weight, or maybe.........Nope thats about it!! I hate those things with a passion. the others should be more than good to go.

Dont forget any temp. varience will throw off the experiment for a while. I dont know if your house gets cooler at night or anything like that, but you need to take the reading after the temp has been steady for about 3 hours.

Place a bottle cap full of table salt with a few drops of water in it. Don't put too much water in there. Place your hygrometer(s) in a Ziploc bag (with a bit of air) and seal it. After 8 to 12 hours the humidity inside the bag will be 75%.
