Re: Stocking a large humidor

why do you need to fill it up right now? why not just wait until you can buy some quality stuff. and if you can afford to get a handfull right now, go for it. slowly gather the goodies

I agree with aphexacid, I rushed to fill up my 100 count humidor and ended up with a bunch of sticks that I didn't like that much. Then when I figured out what I did like, I had to get a second humidor to hold everything.

I sort of went through a newbie must buy ever sampler possible stage just to fill up my humidor. I would have saved myself some cash had I waited until I figured out what I liked. In my experience, once I found something I liked, I wanted to buy more of them or smokes that were similar (even different sizes from the same brand). The smokes I had bought before ended up at the bottom of my humidor and I was more inclined to grab something I liked over something new to try. Eventually I get back to those, but in the mean time they take up space in my humidor. It is one thing to age smokes you like, it is another thing to age smokes you have not even tried yet.

Also, when you are below max capacity, you can arrange everything nicely in the humidor, once you get to max, everything just gets thrown in as you don't have space for dividers. I don't know why, I definitely prefer a nicely organized humidor, however, it almost always turns out to be a waste of space in the end. As I collect more smokes, in order to fit everything, entropy eventually wins out and everything becomes unorganized.

Re: Stocking a large humidor

Buy a couple of samplers and take it easy, smoke them and see what you like and what you dont then buy a few more to try. Your humi will fill up fast enough just by doing this and buying in what you know you like rather than a mass of samplers all at once.

Flor de Oliva [Grand series is good] or Cuban Crafters [googling it will find it] do some decent deals on cheap bundles.

Re: Stocking a large humidor

Well...you can start by buying some fivers here and some samplers there and letting them sit in your humi. Pretty soon you will have a nice collection, but you will have to pace yourself to ensure that you are not smoking more than you are storing.

As far as FDO goes, even the "original" is really good and the price is great. You can get the torpedo or the toro for just under $24 for a bundle of 25. Even when you add shipping, it's still a great deal.

LOOK HERE (Sometimes they are backordered)

The Flor De Oliva was mentioned, I am partial to the Grand Cameroon (http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...em=CS-FB&cat=3) and you can get them for about $55 for 25...

Good Luck!

I would rather take my time and fill it with sticks you know you are going to love instead of just buying bulk at cheap prices to get a full humidor.

He beat me to it! Big fan of Mr. Bundles. Check out the CFB's. I'm one of the ones that like some of the sticks from this line. I've not had them all but I've tried the PSD4, RyJ Robusto, and Cohiba. Obviosuly not the real deal and I'll leave that at that BUT, the Cohiba was fairly smoothe and not bad at all... I lit up another RyJ Robusto last night that has been sitting at 65/65 and it was very nice. So I'd definitely look into these. That said....

Be carefull of going bundle crazy based on what others rec. That humidor will fill faster than you think. And then you'll be looking for your next biggest thing. I'd recommend 5'ers which Mr. Bundles does as well and many other places as well. The last thing you want is being stuck with bundles of sticks that even though they are GOOD, you tire of because there is SOOOO much more out there to try.

Right on, Uncle Mikey has got some A+ bundle sticks. The Cuba's Famous Brands or the Flor De Olivas (Especially their Corojo) are a great cigar to have.

You can get them from www.famous-smoke.com

Do a search "Famous Nicaraguan 3000" on this site and read on.

These have been out of stock for the past few weeks; I'm still waiting.
