Re: Humidor Suggestions?

So i bought the 300 ct humidor...i noticed this one had a lock and key which i thought was a huge plus considering the other one did not. Cigars are a precious investment. It has trays and drawers which are nice for putting accesories in...plus i have been told to buy it bigger than you think you need...so i hope i made the right choice... it has no window but i dont know if that makes any difference. I have a little buyers remorse considering i kinda felt i needed the smaller 150 ct....someone please settle my nerves and tell me that i bought the right one...

Re: Humidor Suggestions?

Um, did you mean $38 in shipping, or the humi is that much? I assume you're referring to shipping but I'll ask just in case...

I feel like the 300 would be a little too big...however i know you guys would disagree with the size saying get it as big as possible. For a newbie which do you think would be acceptable?

Lets hope so, its from an authorized dealer and it first rate. It lists all the specifications and it seems to be of very high quality....just a really good deal if you ask me...what is a humidor anyway...just a box of wood

Au, contraire.

A humidor is MORE than just a box. It's a box intended for a specific purpose, to resist the enormous humidity gradient between what's inside and what's outside. How the box is constructed in terms of its joinery, the quality of the materials and wood used, and other factors, all influence the box's ability to hold in what's inside, and keep out what's outside, while lasting long enough that it doesn't stress itself so badly that it falls apart.

Arrggghhh! Heathen!! J/K unfortunately its not so simple. the humidor must be airtight for one (classic sign = a swoosh sound when you close the lid), the lid should be relatively heavy to maintain the seal, the wood would be preferably thick eough not to warp with humidity and obviously you want a high quality smooth spanish cedar interior. i wouldnt worry though-ebay often has genuine deals to be had, just check off against these things to ensure the humis fine.
Hope all is well!

Re: Humidor Suggestions?

If possible, you should really try to get something with the interior made of Spanish Cedar – the bugs don't like it, it helps your sticks age (breaths, absorbs moisture, etc), but its not that inexpensive

I dont think anyone who knows anything about cigars will buy a humidor that isnt made of spanish cedar...unless of course your also in the market for beach front property in wyoming

Edit: I dont think anyone sells humidors that arent spanish cedar...hehe
