Have you checked your hygrometer, maybe it is off? Are you using a digital or an analog? I would think your RH would drop if you put a whole bunch of dry cigars into your humidor, since they would absorb all of the moisture.

I always thought that if you humi is at 65-70%, then most of the cigars in there should be around that RH as well. I guess it depends on how big the humidor is and how many cigars are in it at the correct RH. If most of the cigars are dry, I would expect the RH to be lower than 65%.

Re: Drying Out!

I know you said you did a box split. How was the other half of the box? If there end is suffering in the same manner and it's not from shipping the box a couple times I would call the vendor and see if they make good on the box. No reason why a box of smokes should come in that dry. Why torture yourself if there is no need to, plus if they are that dry they may not smoke the same as a stick from another box.

You have something going on. I keep the CC '97s around and love them - never had a dry taste or bad burn. Maybe you need to up your rH for a while to 73 - 75 (I know the B&Ms do it from time to time) Does your humi have a good seal?

Re: Drying Out!

I would say to do the same as most people on here are saying. Just let them rest for awhile. While doing so, make sure that you rotate the cigars to different spots in the humidor occasionaly. That way the camachos wont abosorb a whole bunch of humidity out of the cigars under or near them. just rotate every couple days-a week or so. And make sure that the beads arent drying out. After a while in there, they should be smokable.

If it was me, I'd do the what neoflex is talking about. If the other half of the box is the same way, Id call up the vender and switch em out. If not, the rest, rest, rest. Good luck Sam.

WHEW!!! Man I thought I was coming into this thread because you where going to try and stop drinking.
As for your problem leave them lay for a couple months. Grab a beer a different cigar in the mean time.
