A Diamond in the Rough?

I just have to give a shout out in reference to the always present noob thread asking about a good $2 or $3 stick. I have tried all sorts of cigars, thanks mostly to all the LLGs here that sent me bombs while i was serving in Afghanistan, but one that I have always overlooked was the Sancho Panza. The more notable ones being the Double Maduro and Extra Fuerte. See for yourself!

http://www.famous-smoke.com/cigars/s....cfm/st/search

I dont think there are many quality smokes out there that i would stock that i can get away paying only $42.00 for a 6.5 X 48 or even $35.00 for a 5.5 X 45 box of 20 sticks. I mean this is a deal you dont have to visit the devil to get!

They have a great medium body with nice peppery taste, smooth as can be... great smokes. If someone were to have given me a Sancho Panza and not told me what it was or how much it costs I would say it was a 7 or 8 dollar stick...

I guess what i am trying to say is that these are some great smokes for a very resonable price, something you dont find everywhere. If you have not tried one i urge you to run down to your B&M (where they still wont cost you more than 4 dollars chances are) and pick one up for a test drive.

Let me know what you think.

LT

Re: A Diamond in the Rough?

Im not a big fan of the classic Sancho Panza line, but the Extra Fuerte and Double Maduro are excellent smokes.

I agree, if i didnt know what the Sancho Panzas cost, or what they were, i would definately assume them to be a much more expensive smoke than they are.

The last time i was at the B&M here in Reading, i got a SP Valiente for about $3 and some change. Definately worth a shot

They are all right imo, good for an everyday smoke but nothing special, but then again i dont have that much experience with these to truly rate.

I am in agreement. IMO the Double Maddies are the best in the line, but the Extra Fuerte are good as well.

Nice post LT.

Nice post LT.
What's the difference between the two? How about a comparison between the original/natural, double maduro, and extra fuerte? I'm into more of a medium body kinda taste, I don't like to much spice as of right now. Any recommendations?

LT,

(IMHO) You have a keen sense for a quality maduro! I wouldn't be without some Panza Double-Ms in my stash. They're ALWAYS a great treat in the company of a dark beer!

Check out the link in my signature and look at the past reviews.
There is a comparison on the Double Maduro and Extra Fuerte as well as a stand alone review on the regular line.

Scott... Didn't mean to cause any inconvenience (I'm also 30 minutes from a B&M)... Just expressing my appreciation for the SP DM as a perfect pairing with a good, dark beer!

BTW... Now YOU'VE got me digging into the bottom of one of my coolerdors for an SP!! The dark beer and the porch beckon me!!!

I second the choice of SP's. I got started on handmade cigars with SP's and they got me hooked.I love 'em all!

They're the standard by which I measure the overall value of all other smokes.

A lot of cigars must come up short then!

I am about to go out and smoke a SPDM in a few minutes, I may have started something here!

Re: A Diamond in the Rough?

I especially like the small Double Maduro (Quixote) which is odd cause I usually favor a larger stick. The Extra Fuerte is nice but gets a boost up the rebuy list because of the great price.
