So I tried inhaling a cigar for the first time last night...

I have no idea how some of you do it. I'm not a smoker aside from the occasional cigar, maybe one or two a week (unless I meet up with Bigwaved ). So last night my buddy and I were enjoying a couple sticks from our sampler packs and I figured I'd see what it was like. I had a Gurkha and he had an Indios. I didn't inhale a whole lot but what I did hit my chest like a ton of bricks! I got up the courage to try it once more and afterward I had a HEAVY nicotine buzz. I most likely won't be doing that again anytime soon but I figured some of you might find it amusing.

Haha...yea sometimes when im trying to "taste" the cigar occasionally i will inhale a little bit and start coughin wildely....Inhaling ruins the taste in my opinion, i dont know how some people do it. It probably hits me hard because i am not a smoker and only smoke about 1 or 2 cigars a week like you. But yeat its always funny to see someone who has tried it

I only ever do this accidentally, usually when I've been drinking, and I hate it when it happens: I'm usually left coughing and choking, eyes watering, for several minutes.

I did'nt think that would work out very well for you. It's like trying to inhale soup. Thick soup at that...

To taste a cigar, I just run some through the nose. Inhaling is brutal.

I've tried that a few times. Might as well be inhaling it, my reaction's just the same.

Some cigars are harsher than others with a nasale exhale. Many cigars are so smooth that you can't feel any discomfort when you exhale thru your nose. It really helps to bring out the more subtle flavors in a cigar that isn't harsh.

very true it's amazing how some cigars come alive flavor wise by exhaling through the nose

Re: So I tried inhaling a cigar for the first time last night...

I really use that method to get a better feel for the "body" of the smoke. If it burns a little or I can't stand it at all, I know it's full bodied. Works for me because it my nose tends to go along exactly with how a smoke is described.
