I doggie bag it all the time too. Just once I'd like to get a smaller portion so I can finish my plate off... and feel like on of the BIG boys. I always feel like such a pansy having so much food left over. Depending on who you are there with it is almost embarrassing....

Nice pick-ups! I see you decided to stock up on the Sopranos...one of my favorite CAO sticks, but a bit pricey.

Nope, to be honest I was not worried about bringing them in as there is a quantity limit for duty free import of cigars and alcohol but between two of us I'm sure we were under it. I was more worried about the extra (massive) suitcase full of clothes and presents from the family that they could have taxed us on a full whack.

When walking through customs it helped that the two guys were already busy pulling apart from other peoples luggage so we got to walse right through

I noticed that in PA my entire family (well the females anyway) all ordered boxes along with their meals to doggie bag, and other diners doing the same. In NYC though I never saw a doggie bag / box once in the 10 days we were there. I wonder if it is not socially acceptable to doggie bag in NY?

The HUGE portion sizes is one of the things I love about America lol. And the fact that you can box up or doggie bag your food is great. After being in the US then ordering food in England, it's like "where is the rest of my meal?".

And in some restaurants, asking them to box up your food is like asking if you can take a leak in the waiter's pocket!

I'm glad that you had a nice trip to the States. If you want to experience really large portions of food try coming south on your next visit. Your haul of cigars is very impressive and I'm sure that you are going to really enjoy those Padron annys.

Glad to hear that you didn't have any customs trouble when you returned home.
