RP Olde World Reserve

I was at the B&M today and picked up three of them. The owner says they are a brand new line. Dark wrapper, almost mad., round shape, bottom 1/2 wrapped in brown paper sleeve with the name on it. Looks upscale, smells fabo.
I want to let them chill a while so as not to waste one.

Anybody tried these?

I wish my local shop would get them, but if they don't soon, I will just have to buy a 5er from an online shop.

Re: RP Olde World Reserve

I did. I ran out and bought a bunch of them because I heard them being compared to PAM's. (my favorite) I smoked the torpedo last week and wasn't that impressed. I never did a review, but I'll give it a whirl here.

It started of great. Pre-lit draw, smell, appearence, all that was good.
The ash held on for a good inch and a half before I flicked it. After that the smoke went downhill. The flavor was smooth from the beginning...smooth, but boring- not much going on. After the initial ash was off this cigar was very hard to keep lit. I gave it plenty of chances with re-lights, but the flavor never really kicked up and keeping it lit just became altogether too frustrating.

I have more, that I'll give some time. I never write off a cigar after just one. Sit on yours in your humi and ten see what you think. I hope my next date with the RP Olde world will be more satisfying.

In comparison to a PAM...my first PAM (right off the shelf) blew me away.

BTW how was my first review??

Re: RP Olde World Reserve

I am a bit red-faced for not doing a search first, but the B&M guy said they JUST came out. What did I know.
Anyway, thanks guys for the info. The first impressions seem to run the gamut.
What I'm intending to do now is go & find some PMA's... Larry

Re: RP Olde World Reserve

Got 4 from my B&M 2 weeks ago. Smoked one of the Maduro robustos in the shop and had a wonderful experience. Lots and lots of creamy smoke. The maduro wrapper added a bit of sweetness to the spice and woody flavor of the filler. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the stick and smoked it to the nub. A couple of days later I tried the Corojo robusto and I must admit that I didn't enjoy it as much. It was a bit hard to keep lit and a bit bitter (not too much) in comparison. I left the final 1/4 or so of the stick in the ashtray. It did have some promise though and I will wait a couple of months to put some age on the others I have left in my humi. My .

Re: RP Olde World Reserve

A "Smoke-Outlet" in town gifted me one when I bought a Fuente Hemingway. Smoked it with some pizza and beer at a local gin mill. Straightforward earthy tobacco taste, but not a bad NC...but when I went back and saw the price, there are much better cigars for a much less expensive price.

Re: RP Olde World Reserve

I will say that the Maduro wrapper for the Olde World Reserve is the way to go in my opinion. The Corojo wrapper is a wonderful smoke but the Maduro has to be one of the best smokes I've had.

You will either love them or hate them...no one I know haid they are "okay".

Jovenhut, sorry I didn't see this. I couldnt find anywhere that sold 5er's, but seriouscigars.com sells singles.. so you can just buy 5 from them.
