My problem with cigarbid and thompson's while I am at it.

Couldn't sleep so I decided to browse some cigar sites, you know you all do it. I came across this on cigarbid, am I missing something or are people out of their minds? I can find a dozen places online that sell these for less than 6 bucks. 11 dollars, I wish I could sell stuff on cigarbid. You could make a fortune buying stuff over the internet and selling it on cigarbid to people who clearly do not know how to use google. These people should be banned from the internet entirely, at least that way, they are not wasting my bandwith.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills. . .

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=376596

Sorry, I made this post because of cigarbid, however, this has been bothering me for some months now. I feel if I don't get it off of my chest, it may cause some serious health problems. So here I go, I apologize for ranting in the forum, however, my shrink says it is good for me to express my feelings publically (I keep too much stuff bottled up inside). Everyday I take a and browse the Thompson's catalog (I like the pretty pictures). Then I get to the page that advertises the Cohibas and it says they are the most counterfeited cigar in the world and that these are "guaranteed authentic. " Who in their right mind would counterfeit a DR cohiba, DAH, of course they are authentic, there not cubans.

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I'm not really seeing a shrink, it just sounded better that way.

Sorry, if this should have gone in the retailer section.

The thing with that bid is that is not a Short Story pictured...
Either way, people are not very smart when it comes to bidding. There is just a certain "pride" factor in losing an auction, or so I've seen.

Re: My problem with cigarbid and thompson's while I am at it.

I have a friend who is a small retailor. He can keep his business alive with E-Bay alone , he consistantly sells for way over retail. It's this mentality people have that they will always save money at an auction, works at brick and morter auctions also.

Check out any auction site, there are many auctions where people pay more than they should. Why, because they are either un-informed or the get caught up in auction fever and cannot stand to lose no matter how much it cost the.

Re: My problem with cigarbid and thompson's while I am at it.

Ahh the fun of watching the not so smart people bid way too high on sticks! Seriously, this used to get on my nerves too, especially when trying to score a deal on CBid. I often compare auction sites to gambling. There are alot of people who have that must win logic and no matter what, they are going to bid what it takes to win. Not very smart but obviously it does happen. Haven't bought anything from CBid in awile but when I do I bid what I want to pay and that's it. If I get outbid than so be it. Another trap of CBid at least for me in the beginning is bidding on a bunch of crap because it's cheap, and then you end up with a bunch of sticks you have no intention/desire of smoking. Those are the sticks that I usually store in the Moochadore for the BBQs or family get togethers.

Re: My problem with cigarbid and thompson's while I am at it.

I quit buying from CigarBid a few months ago in a dispute over thier lack of response for my shipping concerns....but before that I was a customer for years and have spent thousands of dollars on the auctions. I think that CigarBid 'deals' have become far and few between...and now are primarily restricted to low-end and closeout smokes. People from high-tax states can spend quite a bit more than retail and still pay less to CBID than they would at a local cigar store.

Sorry MC but, I am trying to figure out what you are complaining about If it is the thompsons site and their pricing or, is it the ridiculous way some people bid on C-Bid??
In either case, I agree on both counts but, don't sweat it and move on or, you really will need a shrink
We have discussed this kind of thing in other threads now and again, and plz don't feel badly about doing so. There is a kind of madness "out there" and this is as good a place as any to get stuff off your chest.

I actually love reading these things. Gives me a great laugh. Heck I could buy a box locally for $110 - sell them to this guy at a deal of $8 and make over a $100 on the whole thing -

Idiots -

Re: My problem with cigarbid and thompson's while I am at it.

Shhh! People paying over the odds is where C-Bid's profits come from: that's what keeps the prices lower for the rest of us. There's plenty of bargains to be had, but I agree with Teninx when he says that most of the volume is in low-end and closeout smokes.

As for expressing your anger being good for you, I don't think you'll find many shrinks recommending that. When you do that, you're just practicing being angry, making it more likely that you'll respond that way the next time. Not that you need a shrink. Getting frustrated by the idiots on C-Bid is a perfectly rational response!

The other guy is from SF, I know taxes are high here, but not that bad. Plus, you are already buying something over the internet, just do it right.

Probably should have titled the post something like this: Newbie caution when buying from cigarbid. Don't repeat the mistakes of others.

But my rant just sounded better at the time.

Detriot - I still have your address, it is posted on my wall. . .

Recently, some of my thesis committee members thought I was clinically depressed since I was having troubles in school, which is totally ridiculous. They are unable to comprehend that someone would not want to do research for the rest of their life. So no, I am not seeing a shrink and my sanity is actually pretty good these days.

On the otherhand, I cannot say the same for my wallet, but I can only thank CS for that.
