Aged cigars

I'm getting to the point where there are a good number of sticks in my humi a year old or more. The more I smoke these the less I want to smoke newer smokes fresh from the shelf of the B&M.
When I mention this at the B&M they sometimes seem puzzled.

Do any of you in the jungle feel that smoking aged stogies spoils you for new ones?

Re: Aged cigars

I don't think you will get too many to disagree with you on this. Go ahead and smoke the older ones while you keep buying new ones. Let the new sticks rest and you will have a happy ageing cycle going.

Re: Aged cigars

I agree as well. Some smokes though I think are just as good fresh as they are aged. Such as the brazilias. But for the most part aged is the best way to go.

I agree too, get a good cycle going, I have a couple of everyday smokes that rarely get any aging, but the rest do.

Re: Aged cigars

Very true - the only way to really go now is with a cycle as many have mentioned already. i find the easiest way to do this is to get another coolerdor/humi and just put all your new sticks in the other cooler and then just bury it away from sight. if the new sticks are always within sight its too temting i find, plus its easier to know when you can smoke the stogies, eg humi 2 is for 2007, humi 3 2008 etc etc.

No I don't get spoiled but, I know they can be better if they have some time at rest or, if I have enough I can age em longer. I have a bunch of smokes now and, most of em have been sitting in my humis for nearly 10 months now.
Puffnmo makes a good point; it seems as if you are poised to get a cycle going.

Yes, I agree on the Brazilias. I have been stocking up on them. If I'm going to smoke something not aged, it would be Brazilia, or some of the other great maduros.

Re: Aged cigars

I agree on the brazillias as well. these are my favorite cigar, and I like 'em fresh from the store. i've started aging a box, so we'll see how they taste in 6-months to a year
