Same here.

Someone gave me an Acid at a wedding a couple weeks ago. Inhaled some by accident and almost lost it. Infusion doesn't make the lungs feel good.

Re: is it ok to inhale?

thanks alot guys for all the great info. i'll start not to inhale so much of the cigar and try to just tast it. yesterday i lit one of my cardenas Double Corona Maduro Cognac, god that tasted sooooooo goooood! and tried playing with it, not inhaling it, but trying to tast the smoke. i do get two different tastes. good cigar though.

Re: is it ok to inhale?

IN THE BEGINNING . . .
Huron Indian myth has it that in ancient times, when the land was barren and the people were starving, the Great Spirit sent forth a woman to save humanity. As she traveled over the world, everywhere her right hand touched the soil, there grew potatoes. And everywhere her left hand touched the soil, there grew corn. And when the world was rich and fertile, she sat down and rested. When she arose, there grew tobacco . . .

Definitely ok to inhale in my opinion. This is tobaco folks. No offense to anyone here please do not take this as a knock on anyone.

Tobaco has always been inhaled starting with the Native Americans who would take huge puffs off of a stuffed and I do mean stuffed pipe then inhale to achieve the high from tobaco.

I myself have always inhaled and I find it a waste of good tobaco not to do so. Tobaco is a drug and as such to achieve desired effect one must inhale or chew it well in order to get said effect.

Definitely not good idea if you wish to reduce the risk of associated cancers et. .

But in order for me to enjoy a cigar as I believe it is meant to be enjoyed I inhale with out a doubt.

Cigar Glamour site says this. No I never heard of the site either till just now looked up inhaling cigar in Gooogle. : Should I inhale?

You are not supposed to inhale cigar smoke, but some people do, especially if they smoke cigarettes. I would recommend against inhaling at first. If you want to inhale eventually, so be it. But I would really recommend getting used to smoking a cigar first. Most cigar smokers just hold the smoke in their mouth for a second or two before blowing it out. It's suppose to be about the flavor, not the nicotine.

Another one says this: And just for the record anyone inhaling cigars is not smoking them correct. You are supposed to only draw the smoke into your mouth to taste the cooked tobacco and then blow it back out. Also try not to puff more then two times a minute or the tobacco will get over heated. The former will greatly effect the whole experience. Sorry for the lecture cigars have just been a hobby of mine a loooong time.

Another writes: Start slow and easy. After you get the cigar lit (or as its handed to you if youre sharing it with someone,) just take a small puff, blow out most of it without inhaling and then inhale the little bit of smoke thats left in your mouth. This will give you a good indication of the smokes strength. If it goes down comfortably and doesnt catch in your throat, either on the way down or while youre exhaling, take a second small puff and inhale the entire drag. If this one also feels okay, you can inhale increasingly larger drags as you go. Doing this will give your throat and lungs a chance to get used to the stronger smoke and youll avoid the common mistake of initially taking a big, cigarette size drag followed by an embarrassing coughing fit. Of course, once youre inhaling comfortably, you can take it to the next level by using the advanced smoking techniques covered in the cigarette section of this site. Be sure to try at least an occasional nose exhale, as this really gives an added dimension to the flavor of the smoke. Of course, if the cigar is too strong, or you just dont feel like it, you dont have to inhale at all.

So I don't think there is a definitive answer on the subject as it is very subjective. If one wishes to get the maximum high than one must inhale. If one is only interested in taste than no. If one is interested in getting all the nuances including the high from tobaco than yes.

Just my two cents and you are welcome to throw em out.

If you're new to smoking cigars it can definitely just feel "weird" to not inhale. I came from smoking cigarettes to cigars and at first it felt like I wasn't doing something right. I wanna say that your technique has to go from a "breathing" the smoke into your mouth and then lungs, to a "sipping" the smoke into your mouth only, and letting the smoke mill about in your mouth for a moment or two and then pushing it out. You might feel like you're making some weird faces or feel strange, but if you practice it enough, you'll just get the hang of it and it will become second nature to you. Then you can learn the tricks of exhaling only through your nose and some other cool things that other gorillas around here do that I can't, like "snorking". Good luck!

Re: is it ok to inhale?

I spoke to an Amerindian friend of mine and asked about tobaco in his culture. Wow did I get an earfull.

Bottom line on to inhale or not inhale he said if you asked an elder they would tell you it is personal preference. He also told me that they put sage in with the tobaco sometimes and that he personaly inhales as he wishes to incorporate the sage in his spirit.

Interesting. They treat tobaco as a sacred thing I might add.

The inhale is brutal but the snork is good. It is where the spirit of a cigar is revealed.
