Re: Young punk spits on cigar, almost gets disfiguring beating

when i used to smoke cigs i used to hide them when i walked into the convience stores. might work with a stogie. don't beat or threaten to beat someones @$$ over something as trivial as a cigar. also go to the new gorilla forum and introduce yourself we sure would like to get to know you better other than that of a guy who wants to throttle the noggins of disrespectful teenagers. i know where you are coming from here i am 33 and in college and surrounded by them on a daily basis, but we have to show restraint. i am a firm believer in karma. what goes around comes around. so later that day he probably stepped in dog crap. i guess what i am trying to say is. just chill and have another smoke.

p.s.

welcome to the jungle.

Let me take this opportunity to once again thank the entire world for all the beatings I earned when I was a teen but did not receive.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Re: Young punk spits on cigar, almost gets disfiguring beating

First, I love teenagers. They are full of life, vibrancy and possibilities. Yes, some of them act like dicks, but so do people 30-40 years older. They're more likely to act out, do things we think are thoughtless, but they sometimes lack the experience and common sense of their elders. And some of them are very mature for their age.

Second, while I would be upset if someone ruined my cigar, considering where it was left, I would get over it and vow to never leave my stick in a public place where someone could possibly assume that I left it as I was finished with it.

When I walk into a place with a lit cigar and someone says, "you can't smoke in here." I just tell them "I'm not....I'm idling."

Re: Young punk spits on cigar, almost gets disfiguring beating

My take...

1. Yes, it was a rude/mean/asshole thing that the teen did. (Whether he was a teen or not is beside the point -- there are plenty of 20-somethings that would do it, and even older.)

2. Yes, the person had a right to be angry. It was no accident. (Note: I am making no claim as to whether physical violence should be tolerated or is applicable here. I'm just saying he has a right to be angry for an intentionally destructive act.)

3. After the anger subsides, learn from what happened:

a. Don't smoke a cigar when you know your destination won't allow you to continue smoking. Instead, smoke it for your trip home.

b. If you do smoke a cigar on the way, realize that leaving it outside is as good as throwing it away, and be happy if it's still around when you come out.

c. If you want to be sure to protect it, bring a cigar cutter with you. Knock off as much ash as you can, cut the burning section away, and put it in your pocket. When you get outside, light up again.

My (inflation is a bitch!).

The logical thing is to place on a designated area specifically for lit or unlit tobacco products. The fact that it was still lit and teetering on the edge meant he wasn't done with the stogie.

Also, I can understand his frustration and why he may have copped an "attitude" if thats what you call it. He came on here, new to the board, tried to throw out a story he thought people could relate to and got pounced upon by I would have done the same thing in his situation...you don't spit on someone elses product that is STILL lit, especially when there was probably grass around or, most likely, another ash tray somewhere.
I respectfully disagree.

The title of this thread says he "almost" have a guy a disfiguring beating for spitting on a two dollar cigar. I don't relate to that. JMHO.

but what if it would have been a $40 habano..it's all relevant to the guys situation maybe he likes the cigars and maybe thats what his budget allows him. i don't think i would beat the heck out of a guy for a smoke but i can vaguely see why he got upset.

I took some fighting classes at UCSD and the one thing I learned is that one should never get into a fight.

What he shoulda done is before leaving picked a cigar he could finish in the time it would take him to get there...instead he took a too big stick, if he used his head he woulda been fine...but apparently all he knows how to do is yell at some kid so he can make himself feel better.

He's an asshat

Let's hear it for the virtues of education. I had to learn that lesson the hard way...in a bar room. I knew I should have stayed in school

Now this made me laugh because I teach them and I still feel the same way sometimes. But we do need a step by step account. Hell, film it and put it on youtube for us to watch and laugh at.

Upset sure....disfiguring beating, even if it was a $40 cigar?....No.

And if I left a $40 cigar in a 7-11 outdoor ashtray, then I'm a f#%@in' idiot.
