Perhaps that's why I'm so surprised by the replies I've gotten. Maybe you just have to be from the area. Anyway, I did the right thing and just walked away. I was just relating an unbelievably irritating thing that happened to me.

Why not? It's the truth. Nothing happened, but there was that split second where I had to hold myself back. Are these emotions so alien?

I just don't get it... This is a cigar forum right? This was a cigar related incident right? I didn't make up the story. It not like I claimed I was going to use my ninja skills to pull his aorta out thru his ear and eat it.

Let me try to find an analogy. Say your at a bar and you order up a glass of single malt scotch. (It's been a long day and you're going to treat yourself and relax) You set your glass on the bar and turn to grab a bowl of petzels. You turn back just in time to see some jackass in pants the size of a hovercraft, toss his cigarette butt into your scotch and take a swig of his bottle of Zima.

I can't belive I have to try to explain this. It doesn't matter to me that it was a relativly cheap cigar. It might have been the worst cigar I've ever smoked, I don't know. Every cigar is an experience, that's the pleasure of them. Each one is a brief adventure. Some are pleasant, some aren't, but all of them are interesting. Even the bad ones, especially the bad one. I was robbed of the chance to experience it! Sure, I can buy another Don Juan, but I'll never be able to get that particular one back. Sure this guy probably didn't do it on purpose, but when a guy kicks you in the balls by accident it still hurts, and you still react to it. Sometimes irrationally.

No sweat, seems you were just articulating those primal instincts. I do think your analogy is a bit far-reaching though....a cigar left outside a store in a public ashtray compared to a drink that you turned your back on for a second...but hey, that's what makes the world go around. Hope you hang out and participate, the Jungle is a cool place, regardless of my initial reaction to your post.

That is what set me off. Different area of the country and people handle things differently. I tend to forget that. My fault there. If your ever in Texas I suggest not trying that approach. A "hey that was my cigar ya spit on and I did want it back" works a tad better here. Things are different all over. One day I will remember that




And toss me your address in a PM. I am too unemployed and too broke to drive up there to hand ya a cigar in person, but I can do by mail. Got a few cigars ya might like, Some are a nice long smokes and some short ones for the next trip for ice cream. No need to get worried about setting them down and they getting spit on if ya have to leave unattended.

in my younger days i was involved in a barroom brawl over sumpin' similar.

- a bar in okinawa, mixed company ... squids, and jarheads.
- jarhead reaches into a squid's glass (vodka tonic) and pulls out the cherry.
