Cool "Heartfelt" Beads Question

Just bought a medium Savoy (60 -70) cigar size humidor. I'm thinking about trying the beads. I noticed on the Heartfelt web site they have an option to house the beads in either tubes or a flat 4" x 6" x 1/2" aluminum piece.

Am looking for some feedback and thoughts from anyone with experience.

I'd get the tubes.

Keep in mind, you can put the beads in any container. I have some beads in a shotglass as well as the tubes. Hell, I even have some beads in some plastic bags that I cut the tops off of.

The tube should be perfect for you. Grab a 2 oz tube of the 65% beads and you'll be set.

The tubes are nice, but I perfer panty hose, plus you can get more beads for your buck that way. Feel free to ask pnaty hose questions if you have any....what forum is this? "all panty hose"

I use the tubes for my humidors...

and when you get your coolerdor, you could buy beads in bulk and put them in fish tank filter bags ($1.59 at Petsmart).

Grasshopper:

Get some regular brown-ish panty hose. One end will be closed already, ya know for your (hehe) foot. Get the correct amount of beads + a little more for good measure, and dump them in.
Important part Grasshopper: When cutting it make sure to leave enough space that after you tie it off you are able to spread the beads out pretty thin...you dont want a nut sack shape....more of a laffy taffy size thickness.

Follow the ways of the Dragon Bead Master...and be delivered from evil.

Re: "Heartfelt" Beads Question

My suggestion would be to convert a regular plastic credo to use beads. Most humidors come with a plastic credo that use a green floral foam and either is magnetically attached to the lid (best) or sticks to it. If you pry this little plastic container open and remove the foam you can fill a mesh bag (or pantyhose if that is your thing) with beads and place them in the credo, close it, and viola! You have a neatly packaged beads based humidification device. I did this with my first humidor back in March and couldn't be happier.

I think someone posted a more detailed version of the above some time ago but don't know where it is. might be worthwhile though as I believe there were pictures included.

Re: "Heartfelt" Beads Question

I opted for the aluminum container because my humidor was screaming for a little *bling*

Anyone want to explain what a "coolerdor" is? Also, I have a cigar oasis as stated in my thread labeled "humi question." I was having trouble regulating my humidity after seasoning twice, and someone recommended a bowl of distilled water - initially heated up. My humidity is now reading 76% (two days later). Can/should one use the beads with the oasis? After two months of use, I'm really not having much faith in my oasis.

Hmm Dragon Bead Master..

How many beads can you fit in these "panty hose" devices you speak of. They sound like black magic to me.

Well, You can have multiple bead bags if you have a huge humidor/coolerdor...
I would do something like 3oz per bag, but you rally can do any amount per bag you want as long as you spread it out, but if your humidor/coolerdor is F-in huge I would do a couple of panty bags.

I have a 150ct humidor with 1 x 2 oz tube + 1 x 1 oz tube + 1 x shotglass....may take the shotglass + 1 oz tube out and replace it with a panty bag.
