New Humidor from Ebay

I won a bid last night for $9.99 and shipping, about $38 total. After reading here where bigger was better I went with a 300 count instead of a 150 count. Here's a pic. Anyone else have one of these or input on how well it works?

Re: New Humidor from Ebay

I have bought two humidors from that company. From Canada, right? They are very well-made but I doubt it will hold 150 gars, let alone 300. Unless you fill it with cigarettes
I bought a 300 count from them (different style) and a 50 count. Other companies would have called the 50 count a 20-25 count humi.

Buy beads from Viper - they work perfect with these humidors.

Nice purchase, btw.

Re: New Humidor from Ebay

Ive seen those ones before, they are unlined (exposed pine inside) so you will want to air it out for a while prior to conditioning and placing stogies inside. You also may want to consider getting some pre-cut cedar at Home Depot and using it as a liner to get the pine away from your sticks. Pine oils can make the stogies nasty. I have one of these that is similar (a 9.99 ebay special) that I use for storage, it is close in appearance but smaller.

And go with the beads, the humi elements included with these units are too small, and they hygro isnt very accurate. But for 9.00+ shipping, Im not complaining.

Where should I get the beads and how much should I get?

Buy a least a pound. When you fill that one up, you will need some for your next humi.

Besides the warnings about pine instead of spanish cedar inside, I've read that they aren't the best constructed. I did think about picking myself up one until I started reading some reviews. But it is cheap. As long as it does a decent job, it should work for a bit.

Until you need something larger.

Re: New Humidor from Ebay

Bought the exact same humidor last month, works great. I use a about a third of a pound of beads and it works great. I don't think it'll actually hold three hundred cigars but for $40 it's hard to beat.

So what did you do to season it.?

I never thought to look to see if it had cedar. I figured they would all have cedar but I was wrong. Coolerdors and tupperdors don't have cedar unless you put it there. Cedar doesn't get into the flavor it's just there for bugs so if the box is airtight it can't be all that bad.

Re: New Humidor from Ebay

TBH cedar is only there to help with RH maintenance and to provide a nice smell. airtight + beads = good RH anyway and plenty of cigars = good smell so no crucial need for cedar. btw your humi is very popular in Europe, that style is anyway.
