Re: Smoking every day?

One A Day, like a health vitamin; except sometimes I get totally busy or don't feel well and miss a day; except that sometimes I smoke two or three. Once I smoked five and felt like I'd been sprayed with Raid or slipped a mickey.

One a day is a good maximum for me. It's affordable, with the right rotation, which is key - nobody should wanna get in financial dutch over cigars, right? One usually lets me enjoy a smoke, unhurried, somewhere in the evenng after work. One doesn't melt the roof of my mouth or laminate my tongue into some kind of phenolic-like material. One is good.

Long car trips encourage consumption of more than one/day; I often take crappy cigars with me in the car - or really strong ones. That keeps my in-car numbers lower. Motorcycle trips discourage cigars - they don't go well together.

I'm sorry. Was this thread about motorcycles or vitamins? I forgot the question. Hope this helps.

Re: Smoking every day?

Man, if I were you, I would be honest and upfront with the GF about the cigars. Trust me on this one. If you aren't.. it could get ugly really quick. I went through the same thing with my GF (now my wife) I compromised with her, and I smoke maybe one a day now... and its in the morning at work, so by the time I get home 12 hours later, I don't smell like smoke. And days like today, when I have the day off, I will smoke till about 3pm, then go shower and by the time she gets home, the smell is gone. Now, when she gets home tonight, I do not volunteer to her that I smoked 4-5 cigars today, but if she asks, I'll be upfront about it. And we have an understanding. I enjoy it, and in moderation, it poses no real health risks. Not sure that what Im doing today IS moderation, but such is life.

Re: Smoking every day?

I'm usually 3-4 per month, mostly because I have kids at home who I don't want to encourage in tobacco use (i.e., cigarettes). Sometimes that goes up and down depending upon evening weather.

I also enjoy cigars the most when I'm with friends, and when I've got a mini-herf going on, I'll have 2+ in an evening (along with some wine/port).

I'm not too concerned about the health effects, but to be honest, I haven't really done the research.

Re: Smoking every day?

I have been smoking 1 per day-evening on the porch with sig other and a cocktail. On weekends when we party with the neighbors I might have 2-one before dinner and one later in the evening after they all leave. I always smoke outdoors so when the snow comes I may have to change my habits-or buy a nice heavy parka

Re: Smoking every day?

I think I'm with the majority - 2 or 3 a week. Occasionally more, occasionally less.

My wife has never been bothered with me smoking cigars, but she used to absolutely hate it when I smoked cigs.

Actually, she even bought me a humidor once upon a time. She's a keeper.

Re: Smoking every day?

sounds like i'm with the majority here too. about 2-3 per week, sometimes more, but not often. in the winter months that'll go down dramatically, except for football time on Sundays when I expect to be smoking throughout the games at my local cigar-friendly sports restaurant...

Re: Smoking every day?

I went from 1 on Fridays a few short months ago to 1-2 a day. Usually one at lunch or after work with my cigar buds and one in the evening. It really has to do with my mood though. Some days I don't smoke one and on some days I will get 3 in...

Re: Smoking every day?

I'm up to 2 or 3 a day. I just get the urge during the day. I figure everyone else is smoking. I should too.

There are so many things that will kill you immediately (like sting rays for example.) I can't see worrying about what a few cigars are going to do.

Life's too short to worry about dying.

Have fun.

Re: Smoking every day?

I average about 7-8/week, this may depend on several factors. The days that I have a long auto commute are grrrrrrrreat for smokin'. Saturdays and Sundays are a 2 or 3 stogie day. The days that I commute by train are usually smokeless, sadly. I usually stock corona, lonsdale, or rothschild sizes as they are more commute-friendly for me, personally.

Re: Smoking every day?

Before purchasing a humidor it was several a year, usually during camping and golfing. Then with a small humidor it was 1 or 2 a week. Along came on line ordering, bigger humidor, more visits to the B&M. Those poor sticks look so lonely sitting there in that big walk in, gotta adopt them and give em a home!

The last big push down the slope came with CS. Now I am smoke one daily and several during the weekend. Got to get in as many sticks as possible during the nice weather. Will probably go back to 1-2 per week when the winter roles in.

I see this winter as hunter and gathering season! Hopefully Santa will bring a cabinet humi. Who knows what the carnage will be next spring!

Re: Smoking every day?

I'm going to say that I average 5 a day - sometimes as few as 3 - other times upwards to 7 or so.

Although my wife may not like the smell of them - it's really not a choice or something she gets to decide on. Most everyone has something they do: might be hunting, riding bikes, baseball, football, play cards, hang gliding, drinking - whatever - cigars are what I do. I love tobacco, plain and simple.

Re: Smoking every day?

Interesting responses guys. It seems that over a period of time we each settle into a pattern which is comfortable, affordable and enjoyable.
I think I've pretty much hit my stride with 1 a day. That means every day there is a nice quiet interlude to look forward to.:s Larry
