For me its usually 2 a day sometimes 3 and on weekends more. The wife and I like to sit out on the deck and smoke in the evenings, I have to sit upwind of her flavored smokes though

Re: Smoking every day?

I'm only about one cigar a week, and I don't inhale. As an ex pack-a-day cigarette smoker who's six years off cigarettes, I'm concerned about becoming nicotine dependent again. I worked too hard, for too long, on quitting cigs to get chemically dependent again--or worse, develop any kind of smoking-related cancer. Having said that, I just set up my first wine coolerador, and so now I've got this fear that having more smokes on hand will lead to more frequent cigar smoking. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone read any good info, or have a link to good info, on exactly how many is too many?

Re: Smoking every day?

My cigar smoking has really increased lately. I'm pretty much on one a day, sometimes missing a day. But It goes in cycles, I'll probably be back to about 3 a week soon.

Re: Smoking every day?

I posted earlier that my cigar smoking is up to 3 to 5 per week and I contribute alot of it to the weather. I've smoked the past 4 days straight while sitting on the patio enjoying the weather (although some of it was rainy). However, come Fall and Winter, I doubt I'll be sitting on the patio in the below freezing weather just so I can smoke. My consumption will probably cut down to maybe one or two a month.

Re: Smoking every day?

I remember just a few months ago when I started I thought "I will do this about once a month." Ha! Now it is almose one per day. If I were single I would probably be smoking two a day. I guess that's why life insurance is lower for married men!

I have been telling myself that I will cut down in the winter but I love cigars so much that I wonder if I really will. Just this morning I woke up early enough to have one with my coffee, something I rarely do. It was great! I was in a much better mood than normal when I left for work.

I love cigars!!

I think we need to ask this question again during the dead of winter. I bet the frequency of smoking will drop off for most of us.

Re: Smoking every day?

I average 2 a week during the may to august months, and almost none the rest of the year. I am actually grateful for the break, like anything in life, the mroe you have something, the less you appreciate it and vice versa. I will have the odd one, usually vacations, and one or 2 trips to the cigar bar, but I would say less than 10 for those 7 or 8 months.

But, I am curious to the health risk / frequency correlation. Someone posted that they heard one a day does not pose much risk. It would be interesting to see some facts on this ( if there are any ) Not long ago, they were saying that if you were able to smoke cigarettes in moderation, ( less than a handful a day or soemthing ) then the health risk was also negligable. But more recently, they are saying to stay away all together.
All this to say, go get life insurance, and tell them you smoke cigars every day, and you are lumped in with the chain smokers. There must be a reason for this.
Don`t all gang up on me at once, I am not saying one way or the other, believe me, I`d like to find out there is no risk ( or very little ) - but unless there is some proof of that, we shouldnt just assume some random number like one a day is acceptable.

Re: Smoking every day?

Once in the morning on the way to work and either at lunch or late afternoon on the way home from work. That is M-F

On the weekends. I usually smoke one if I am fishing or playing golf during the day on a Sat or Sun. I will smoke in the evening out on my deck after dinner.

I would say at least 14 a week.

Re: Smoking every day?

15 to 20 per week. I don't inhale so I do not worry as much about the amount that I smoke.

Re: Smoking every day?

About 15 a week or so.
One a day, sometimes 2...usually three or four a day on weekends. Sometimes it gets too busy and skip a day, that's when you really need to slow down and enjoy one.
Smoke one every evening after work on the patio with my wife, she gets my full attention for that time, and has no problem with my cigars.

Re: Smoking every day?

I went over the slope pretty hard and now have around 100 cigars. I'd say around 60 of them are all different singles while the other 40 are 5 packs.

So I have probably around 70 different cigars in my humidor that are unique and I have never tried in my life.

Because of this, I find myself smoking every other day.
