Same here. I stuff 'em into my avatar until it won't close. Then remove the one keeping the avatar from closing, smoke it, and all is well.

Course, then you need to order a new one to keep future avatars in.

Re: Question about humidor is filling up! Rule of thumb....

This website has a lot of information on this, but it is slanted toward selling you their product:

http://www.hydrocase.com/cigarstorage_details.htm

You may want to be careful when you place a large number of new smokes in your humi. Some come either very dry or wet. They will need some air flow until they are equalized.

For sticks that are equalized I do not think you have to worry much. I take care not to squish them, this could cause some draw problems.

If you move your sticks around a lot, you will get more then enough air flow between them.

I have not had a lot of experience with aging. This may involve more maintenance, or a special set up. From the vendor pictures I have seen, it looks like they just sit around for several years in bundles.

Best advice, buy more cigars, then you'll have to get another humi!

Re: Question about humidor is filling up! Rule of thumb....

A full humidor should not require much humidication unless the room is bone dry. As long as the element does not touch, you should be fine (the humidifying element may only need to be humidor once a week. Use a hydometer to gauge unless you do it by feel and appearence.
