You're so "finicky" Matt..........won't buy the cheap stuff, huh?

Seriously, Mo gave me a house brand from Hi-Times-Wine that was killer. It was discovered, however, and was bought up by foreign sources, so they no longer make it. I wouldn't take a flyer on a 25 count bundle but a stick or two can work sometimes. BTW, that "expensive" Cosuega Buena tubo you gave me, I had to stop doing yardwork while I was smoking that...it was pretty tasty, especially for the first half THX Bro.

One of the shops I go to has a small table. I have gotten some good deals off that table. But I trust the shop and know the people and stay with the brands that I know. Sometimes there is a deal, sometimes not.

This place had a lot of name brand stuff, CAO, Leon J., Playboy stuff, not sure if pricing was good. I just looked for cheap. I'll be back there in a couple of weeks and will be better prepared.

I didn't realize that El Producto was a machine made smoke. Thanks for that info.

That's close to me so I go there for the RP Vintage 2nds. Picked up the 90's there the other week and won the 92's on auction this week.

Famous is close as well and has bags of sticks for different prices on closeout from time to time. The cool part about Famous is I'm so close I don't need to pay shipping but I do need to pay sales tax.

I am not above it at a quality B & M. What can I say I am a bargain hunter, as I am sure many of you are.

Yeah, Im a dumpster diver when there is an opportunity at the B&M - if the smoke has the right look and feel, or is a premium stick with minor damage, Ill pick one up. Im just gonna smoke it anyway! That said, I keep my dog rockets, 2nds, and cheapos in a separate humidor and dont bomb them or give them to guests (only to my mother in law when she is out of smokes! )

Re: Do you pick through Close-Out bins?

My local shop has a seperate humidor that it puts in the cigars that arent moving very fast.. the problem is, once that particular cigar is gone, the owner won't order more because they don't sell well. Take the Sosa Governer pyramides #2 for instance.. I love them.. He has about 8 of them left, and he's had them for over a year. I buy one at 1/2 price because I like em.. I think next time Im in there, I will buy up the rest of em.

Re: Do you pick through Close-Out bins?

I just scored two bundles of Montesino maduros at a lousy b and m for $25 a peice. They have been on the shelves of their humidor for over a year and with their new arrivals they didn't have room for em, they are really good smokes (I wish more places put pre-aged smokes on clearance )

Re: Do you pick through Close-Out bins?

That was my thought process. If they've been there a while then the aging process is out the window. Tey've done the work, paid the price and I'll reap the benefits.

Mind you the Helix wasn't a great smoke, IMHO and the el Producto made me sick to m pants, but it's gotta be worth it to know not to spend 5 bucks on some crappy smoke.

Munt.
P.S. I did say sick to my pants.
