A good deal and even better deals may be had from the devil site. Firsts or seconds are exceptional.

That is a great deal but I have never tried the 2nds? Has anyone had experience with RP 2nds. Are there any major problems with the wrappers besides blemishes?

Re: For all you RP Vintage aficionados out there

I get my firsts (Churchill 90's) for $15.00 a 5-pack at C-bid

I get my 2nds (Churchill 90's) for $11.00 a 5-pack at C-bid

the seconds taste great, seem to be a little less pressed than the firsts so not as clean looking. Obviously the band helps the appearance. As for most RP products - no discernible difference in flavor for me.

How about the quality of the cigar? Are the seconds made as good as the 1sts? Will it come unravled, etc?

Re: For all you RP Vintage aficionados out there

Construction is excellent, you won't have any problems.

I just layed three 2nds next to 5 firsts and could find no real differences. No blemishes. If there was anything at all, and I may be seeing things - the wrapper on the seconds is actually slightly darker on the seconds. I would have intuitively thought a second would not be dark enough, but I guess if they over ferment and the wrapper is too dark I guess they could classify it as a second as well as for being too lite.

Regards,

I might have to take a chance on some of those seconds. CI always has a good deal on them.

I did a review of the 1992 2nds on another forum. (cigarweekly).
http://forums.cigarweekly.com/viewto...086&highlight=

They are really good. Only minor folding in spots of the wrapper.

Re: For all you RP Vintage aficionados out there

I picked up a 5'er of 1992 churchills on CBID for $9.00

The one I smoked had a few tiny chips in the wrapper, but it burned perfectly and tasted good as well.

Re: For all you RP Vintage aficionados out there

RP seconds are well worth the money. I highly recommend if you want to try seconds. I don't think you can tell the difference except for no band and maybe a minor flaw here or there. Go for it.

I assume you mean 92 2nds for $9.00 - excellent deal.

If you got firsts for $9.00 a fiver you are a CBID Ace.

The seconds are excellent. The wrapper blemishes are barely detectable in many cases, and what would pass as a first for many other top level brands wouldn't pass for Rocky. I had one bad one (the wrapper completely unraveled) in 3 seconds bundles, not a bad average.

From what I have read and seen for myself, Rocky will not pass a second if the wrapper is even slightly discolored.
