I have not had one yet..But my experience is if the draw is tight the cigar usually tastes like crap..

Hopefully you have more than one so that you can try again in a few months. I bought two fivers and the first one was really good. No draw or light problems, and a relatively smoothe stick. Thanks for posting your experience.

Re: Punch Rare Corojo

I have never had one of these draw hard unless it is too wet. IF that is the case, it will taste like poo-poo. From my experience, these are not sticks that do well at 70% RH. I have had excellent results with these when kept at 65 - 67% RH. Also, I don't know about a sick period with these. I have noticed a tendency for these to be a bit bitter when smoked right after delivery from one of the big boys like JR or Holts. The ones that I have let sit six months to a year are excellent. I have some 2004 Pitas that I would rate a 10 out of 10 at this point.

While this is correct, I have also gotten that "ammonia" taste that seems to indicate a very green cigar. I believe it is because the cigar is too wet. We all know some are shipped a bit wet, and even if that is not the case I prefer them around 65%. Let them rest and acclimate for a few months. Ageing takes years, but a few months at your preferred environment can make a huge difference.
In my experience, I find this is especially true of milder sticks.

The good news is that you sometimes forget you have them buried, and when you find them again it's a real pleasure.

Absolutely, Chip. I was just trying to state that NCs generally don't have a "sick period"

I'm too lazy to search, but this wet PRC thread has a very deja-vu quality. I'm gonna go out on a very little limb here and say the only bad PRC is a PRC at 69% or higher.

Re: Punch Rare Corojo

Currently smoking a Punch Rare Corojo Pita that I took out of a almost full box last night. They have been sitting in the cooler for about 4 months now. Just as I remember them...spicy, twangy & this one which is about 2/3rds gone now has had no draw or burn problems. Have the Cigar Oasis set in the cooler at 68% but I think these could be better taken down a notch or two. May move the box into another cooler where I have started using Vipers 65% beads.

Have been enjoying the Pita this morning. Not a stick I would look for on a regular basis but it makes for a nice change and I'm glad the review got me motivated to dig one out from the bottom of the cooler.
