I don't think I have had the privilege to run across JoeD yet, and I do have some higher end Fuente products sitting in one of my humi's - but other than that

It has been a pleasant surprise to see the generosity that the people here (and on the other board I joined about the same time). I don't know how really to put into words how much I do appreciate those that have been around here, seeing the same questions over and over - putting up with those that come in thinking that they know everything - I think of it like the good cigar reps, you start to recognize those that truly love this habit of ours.

Oh, and did I mention that the end of this contest happens to coincide with my hatchday

First off, the thank you to JoeD:

Joe, I don't know you, but based on the facts that have heretofore been presented, I know you're awesome. Lets break it down:
a.) You like cigars. Not many lnon-awesome cigar smokers out there.
b.) You're a dog owner. Dogs are awesome.
d.) You, according to your profile, are a golfer. Golf, while amazingly frustrating, is also amazingly awesome.
c.) Your name, presumably, is Joe, which happens to be the single most awesome name in the english language. Joe Namath, Joe Montana, Joe Frazier, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Joe Dimaggio, St. Joseph, I could go on for hours but the awesomeness might kill me...

Now, about my eligibility. I'm a 20-year-old college student at Virginia Tech and the Sports Editor at the campus paper. While I thoroughly enjoy my school and occupation, my wallet does not. I dropped $100 on the devil this weekend and probably won't buy another cigar for five months.
I like cigars, golf, dogs and being named Joe. I'm also a fan of good music, fine beers and long walks on the beach, which is unfortunate because I live 300 miles from the ocean. I first came to CS this summer and racked up a hundred posts in my first nine days. Since then I've come back to school and have been a little less active, but I have participated in my first trade (Newbie Blind PIF) and am definitely looking forward to participating more.

As far as my cuban experiences, I've only had two, a Bolivar and RyJ while I was on a cruise a couple years ago before I could even appreciate them. As for the Fuente's, I've only ever had the chateau's. There is only one B&M in Blacksburg, and though it's kept chock-full of Camacho's and Padron's (some of my personal favorites), the selection leaves something to be desired.

In any case, mad props JoeD. It's an honor to be in the same forum as you.

Actually Lance, you've put together a tremendously thoughtful contest. I hope you don't mind but I may take a page from your playbook in the future. While I'm not personally familiar with JoeD yet, I can't help but admire all the outpouring for what seems to be a true role model here on this forum. That is evident by the high regards some of the elders showed immediately after you started this thread. I hope to get the opportunity to know/meet both of you in the future.

I came to CS around a month ago with no expectations other than learning about and discussing my new found passion for cigars with people that shared the same interest. Here's my intro. What I've found here is that there are some truly amazing BOTL's/SOTL's, like JoeD, that have committed themselves to the PIF system whole-heartedly. The generosity that these guys display without a single drop of "what's in it for me" is incredibly humbling.

It seems like JoeD has become a sort of 'mentor' to you, and I'm sure you're doing him proud by showing this kind of gratitude towards him. He's probably thinking "you've done well, grasshopper". There's a couple of guys here which have done similar for me and I hope to do the same for them in return.

The highest compliment I can pay JoeD is I hope I can become the kind of member to impact others here on this forum the way JoeD has.

I actually am eligable for this contest, so I am definately in. I have had the pleasure of herfing with both Lance and Kathleen on several occasions and let me say they are both a riot. I also had the chance to meet JoeD over the weekend and find out that he is a great guy who is very generous (the 70's Monte you gave my bro).

For those of you who dont know me, i have been into cigars for about the last 5 mos and it just keeps getting better every day. I started out smoking Java's (which I dont smoke anymore, but they helped pave the way) and have been sliding down the slope since then. For my birthday, my brother gave me some cigars, one being a Monte #4. For my first Cuban, I was blown away-packed with flavor. I now have a small humidor with about 20 cigars (mostly NC) that I am hoping to build up in the near future with a new wine fridge humi.

I think this contest would be great for me b/c I dont really have alot of money at this stage in life, so I cant afford to get cubans as often as I smoke them. they would be the staple of my collection.
