A busy life, crappy weather...

A couple of days ago a cold front came through and the weather here is gorgeous: not too warm and low humidity. Perfect stogey weather! In addition, yesterday I received a long-delayed box of smokes I've been looking forward to trying.

So of course, this morning I wake up with a burning throat and a streaming nose. Allergies!! It would be a complete waste to even try to smoke one of my new acquisitions. (Doesn't mean I won't try of course!)

It just goes to show, you should always make the most of your opportunites to smoke a good one!

Oh man that IS terrible. I'll smoke one for you tonight bro- I'm goin to Harvest Coffee tonite- because you are right- the weather is great!

Man ya got to hate it when that happens.

I have a small idea that may be a solution or atleast take up some of your time trying it, think back to when you started smoking cigars. The first ones you liked, you know the ones.. Grab one of those and try that - ohh wait..

Mind says to smoker "Man I used to love this gar" Smoke at least half of that gar then grab a good one and try again..

I have actually not had the taste for a cigar for a couple days now, i did smoke one yesterday but that is because I buddy of mine wanted to so of course I lit up with him. I think it is because I have just been to busy with school but tomorrow to end the week of school I will definitely have to smoke something nice, maybe one of those la aurora 100 anos i just got in.

Re: Ever had a day where you just can't enjoy a cigar?

a few months ago I burned out my pallete, for a few days no matter what I smoked I couldn't enjoy the taste, even if it was one of my favorites. I took a few days off of smoking and was fine

Sat myself down on the patio with some work, set for a nice afternoon smoke. But peeeeew - this cigar sucked. I gave it about an inch, just waiting for it to get better, but I was actually coming to dread each puff. I gave up and went in for a standby cigar - Gispert Maduro. These are a favorite of mine, so I knew I'd be able to smoke and enjoy. So much for trying something new today.

But alas ... even a favorite of mine tasted nasty. I just could not enjoy it. So in retrospect, the Perdomo was probably fine. The problem was clearly with me. Two cigars wasted. Boo.

Anyone ever have this happen? Why the heck wasn't I able to enjoy my cigar today? Ate a normal lunch, nothing else out of the ordinary. I'm not sick, so that's not it.
Yep been there done that - sucks eh?

Smoking a cigar is kind of like having sex - even when it's bad, it's still pretty good...

, there are definitely times though when a cigar just doesn't taste as good as it should, guess the mood has to be right...

That would be a good excuse to go out and smoke. I've heard a lot of good about those.

Re: Ever had a day where you just can't enjoy a cigar?

Last night was one of those nights. I guess I had the physical craving for a cigar so I lit up a 5 Vegas Toro Madura. It seems that I had to somewhat force myself through it, not really into it mentally, so before I got halfway through, I sat it in the ashtray and let it burn out. Too bad because I really hate wasting a good cigar. So...here is a good excuse to place an order through CI for some smaller cigars so when I want to smoke I can and not devote an entire 90 minutes to it.

Re: Ever had a day where you just can't enjoy a cigar?

When that happens I just give up on the cigar and go eat ice cream. Sometimes your taster is just off. Right now I have a sinus thing going on so if I need to sit and have a smoke I grab one of the cheapies in the humi-don't want to waste those choice ones. I spend a lot of time picking out my smoke. I weigh a lot of factors like how I feel, how tired I am, how much time do I have...will I be alone or with someone(talking a lot distracts fom the smoke) Smoking cigars is serious business

I'm happy to report that it was a one-day funk. Got my pallate back today and enjoyed a nice Gran Habano #3.
