Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

I have 2 That arent too far away, and 2 that are a little bit of a drive.

one is a small shop in Reading, PA that is a bit overpriced but i like stopping in to pick up something new. He doesnt carry alot of variety just what he knows he can sell on the average day.

Another shop i visit is in Pottstown. This place is more of a Tobacco shop, they sell alot of cigarettes and lottery tickets but they have a small walk in humidor. The humidor has alot of stuff they buy straight from JR (Alternatives and such) but i like stopping in because unlike the other B&M in Reading, they mix up thier orders and get in new stuff from time to time.

There is another place down more towards Exton that i go to on a rare occasion. They are OK with thier prices but the service I normally recieve isnt so great so i only stop in when i am driving past it, which isnt all that often.

The last B&M is J&M cigars in Exton. This is my favorite B&M by far but unfortunately it takes 45 mins to get there. The service is great and the owner is a really nice guy. He typically gives out free copies of Cigar Magazine with your purchase and his selection is pretty good. This is one of the few B&M's i have visited that if you need something they either have it or will get it for you. I really wish i lived closer because i would be there regularly.

To sum it up, i goto local shops from time to time. Maybe once every two weeks.

Once or twice a week I stop in my local B&M. Always buy a single or two, my box and sampler purchases are still made online and account for 2/3 of what I smoke.

This is also my favorite B&M... my g/f lives in Norristown, so when I visit her for the weekend we try to make a trip down there... the service is great, the owner knowledgable and selection and prices are excellent. I live in Jersey so when I visit one here, I usually head to Nero's in Haddonfield, they are a little higher priced than J&M but, that is due to NJ taxes being higher. Another fine shop. I try to hit one or the other at least every other week. Pick up a stick or six.

Once or twice every week or two. There is a personal touch which cannot be substituted.

My local shop is Famous's Retail Store. CI's retail is just a little further. I go to these places several times a month for boxes, bundles, 5 packs and singles.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

Best I can recall, I was in a B&M about 6 years ago. I was out of town and in the mood for a couple gars. Then 3 years ago I was on a cruise ship at sea and bought a fiver from their duty free shop. So in the last 6 or 7 years, I've bought at least 7, maybe even 8 cigars in retail shops.

I'm a total internet shopping slut. What can I say.

As a side note, the fiver were Macs - all they had on board. Still got 4 of them sitting in the humi.

Not nearly as often as I should. Joe, the manager is great! Always good conversation. Wish he owned the place; it would be a whole different experience going in.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

Stopped by on the way home from work today. Picked up 6 Padron 6000 nats; 2 AF HM Sig Nats; and 3 AF 8-5-8s. As I was checking out the Padron loving manager finally got around to asking me for my email address so that they could invite me to free cigar events and other stuff at the store. We also discussed, for the first time, when the next shipment of Padron annis would arrive. I have been going in there for some time and this was the first time that I actually had a conversation in paragraph form with the guys in the shop.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

Here in Atlanta we have about 80 shops. I have yet to find all of them, but I'm trying. Right now, if I don't have a tournament I am in one of three shops all weekend long. Love the conversations with the owner, customers & BOTL from all the boards I've met. Great places to hang out.
The other nice thing is when I buy boxes they will normally meet online pricing so I don't have to wait for deliveries.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

i do not hit my local shops very often at all. a couple of them are headshops (some of you may remember from my previous posts), although one of those is pretty good in terms of selection. it's just very hit-or-miss with who's working. i might come in and get a stoner behind the counter, or someone who's into cigars. i usually only stop in if i'm in the neighborhood, and am looking for somethng new or something like that. of course, thanks to some of the wonderful taxes here in NY, if i leave with some singles they tend to be overpriced

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

Daily, some days twice. I am fortunate to have an excellent shop close to my shop. Not the best selection or the best prices, but an excellent place to sit and smoke with friends. Part of the attraction of this hobby is the people that you meet and the friends that you make. I could order exclusively from the net but I feel I would be missing more than I would save. Cultivating a good relationship with a B&M is worth the extra cost of a loose stick or the more expensive ocaisional box purchase. The advice, good and not so good, taste samples of new products, the ability to relax in a friendly atmosphere, and the general comradery bring a welcome break to my schedule.

My ,
Bill
