Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

I will start going here soon. http://www.titancigar.com/

The new owner sent me an email and it sounds like it will be a great place to hang out...
-=-=-=-=

I am the owner of TITAN Cigar, and like you wanted a high-end shop in the Annapolis area with GREAT service. I am going to have a humidified store, so when you walk in to TITAN, you walk right into the humidor. The back lounge area will have two plasmas, smoke-eaters, 100 lockers, regular events, and a wet-bar with cognac, wine, port, etc.

I will be open the end of November, with the grand opening first of December. Look forward to seeing you then. If you know of any other methods of getting the word out, it would be appreciative.

Thank you,

Dave W.

TITAN Cigar

p.s. - i have already been in touch with rocky patel to do a future event.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

Although I really enjoy going into many of the local shops, I just can't bring myself to buy gars from them anymore. They are just too damn expensive as compared to what I can get on the Internet for pricing. A $30 gar in the shop I have picked up on Cbid for under $4! So that has curtailed my visits quite a bit. I hate to go in and waste the good owners time if I'm going to get my Gars elsewhere at prices way below their cost.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

That is a good point, However, if your cigar shop provides a great atomosphere, good friendly service then you can purchase other items besides over priced cigars or treat yourself to a special cigar from time to time through your local B&M.

I can get a nice bottle of wine from my local liquor store much cheaper than I can at my favorite restaurant but I take my wife out to dinner and buy that expensive bottle of wine at the restaurant because I am paying for the ambience and service that comes with the wine.

The new cigar shop opening in my area will have plasma tv's a nice lounge, lockers and a wet bar. This winter when it is too cold to smoke out on my deck, I will definetly be visiting the local B&M often.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

I used to be in my local shop once a week, but the way things have gone lately, I haven't been for a couple weeks. It really sucks, but there isn't much I can do about it. Im hoping to get there sometime this week though..

Now if we had Cigar Shops around here with a nice lounge, plasmas, wet bar, etc., I would probably treat it as a great place to hang out and buy a gar there once in awhile for the experience. Unfortunately the Gar shops around here (2 within 3 blocks walking of my place) have nothing like that. One has a few leather couches right in the middle of the shop, the other has nothing except display humis for the Gars.

I hear ya. We don't have too many that are that nice either. I am really looking forward to this new shop opening in November. Just in time for cold weather.

Re: How many frequent their local cigar shop?

I was going to initially reply that I don't very often (I may have already) but I realize I really need to more often. My B&M although it doesn't allow smoking is a great store. I know his storage and it is good. I haven't frequented it enough really to get to really know him but I think I might start. He's told me before that if there is a 'hard to find' he can always try to get them for me. I called him today to ask about Anejos, and guess what he had in stock? Yes two left. Yes he held them for me. Yes he's going to call me when he gets his releases this year. Man.... he's got Opus X, Anejos, Preferidos.... you name the hard to find and overpriced and he's got it..... RETAIL. Nothing like seeing people online paying $30 for a Opus and he's selling them for $10.99.

In short... give your local a try. I'm going to work on developing my business relationship at the very least with mine!
