Factory Select vs. Factory 2nds

I was looking around at famous-smoke.com, and they have the RP Sun Growns in both Factory Selects and Factory 2nds. Anyone know what the difference is? The Selects seem to be slightly more expensive than the 2nds, and both are much cheaper than the 1st, of course.

Not too sure about the selects. According to some site i was thinking about ordering some RP 2nds, the 2nds are just the same cigar, from the same factory, same makers yadda yadda yadda. The reason they are 2nds is because the leaf may not be spot on in color, or there may be a blemish on it that would make it less than perfect. So according to that, the 2nds are the same cigar. But I've never tried them so I can't say from experience. Never read too much about factory selects.

I think the selects are a bit better than the seconds but not as good as the regular production construction or leaf wise.

Yeah, that's why I'm confused. They both seem to be 2nds by the standard definition around here. Maybe the Selects just aren't as imperfect?

I got some RP 2nds and I cannot see why they are 2nds...Same cigar...very minor defaults on the wrapper.

The seconds at Famous are slightly different, they tend to be (according to the Famous description) less satisfactory to Rocky Patel, and have much more pronounced blemishes. The factory selects are less so, and have very minor, barely detectable blemishes. Also, given the construction problems RP had with sungrowns a year ago, the seconds may be leftovers from that time.

What a great deal. They were 59.95. Thanks. They are one of my favorites. I think if I had to choose just 1 the SunGrown would be it. I placed the order instead of driving down and I knew the salesgirl on the phone and she is now on the phone with my wife. My wife used to sit her kids. Small world.
