Re: Rocky Patel 92

I smoked a RP 1992 yesterday and it was harsh and metallic tasting. It has been in my humidor only about a week so I'll let the others sit several months before giving RP another shot. I am not saying RP is a bad cigar because I smoked another brand earlier in the day and it was just as bad. Maybe it was just a bad day for me for cigar tasting.

I have a RP Sun Grown that I am itching to try but I'l be patient and let it sit for awhile.

Re: Rocky Patel 92

I haven't been a huge fan of the RP 90s or 92s... well made cigars, the flavor profile doesn't do it for me though. I did have a Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Toro Maduro last month, and thought that was a pretty good smoke. Went well with a couple Stolis and a pizza.

yep smoked my first one of these this week, and I enjoyed it A LOT. They are great smokes.

Im a noob and have become quite fond of the RP line. What ive tried of it so far. The 90's and 92's. I cant get enough of them. Have become a go to for me. I have burned through quite a few and have not been dissapointed yet.

When I buy the 92s I put them in the humidor and don't think about them for a year because of this problem.

the foot on one of my 1990's was a little swollen, maybe there was a lot of humidity variation at some point in its life... the wrapper was a little torn and delicate on the tip of that stick, but it didn't really affect the smoke... so far I've had one 90 and one 92, the others, I'll keep in the humi for a bit and see if they get better.

love em both... even tho they look pretty similar, flavor wise they are surprisingly different IMO. the 1990's were a little more subtle... and I think I prefer them... but the 92's were good too.

oh, I forgot to mention, the delicate nature of the wrapper on the '90 I got was not limited to the foot... the entire cap (I think it was a double) popped off when I cut it to smoke... I don't think the Xikar Xi3's I used were the problem... the head still held together, a testament to the construction of these guys...

I'm an official RP whore... what ever he's doing over there, he does it well.

And since you guys seem to like the pictures, here are some...

the box, a '92, and a 92 mid-smoke... it's a beaut.
With your love and subsequent whoredom comes citizenship in the smallish country of Patelia...welcome to da neighborhood

Re: Rocky Patel 92

I agree with Icehog on this, the Vintages just don't do it for me. I do like the RP Conn for a nice early morning smoke, and have found they are a great stick to give to someone who isn't much of a smoker but appreciates a good cigar.
No doubt RP is making some good smokes, I really like the Edge also.
