Rocky Patel 92

This is a discussion on Rocky Patel 92 within the General Cigar Discussion forums, part of the The Cigar Lounges at Puff category; I'm sitting outside, the sky is clear, and it's about 55º out. Perfect night, so I figure I'll try one ...

I'm sitting outside, the sky is clear, and it's about 55º out. Perfect night, so I figure I'll try one of my new RP 92's for the first time. The only thing I can say, is that this cigar is as close to perfect as I've smoked, it's an amazing stick, I'm sure many of you would agree with me.

I agree, the RP vintage are some of my favorite NC's.

Try all the other RP cigars, they're all good, especially the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte.

Just finished a 6x60 Vin 92 a half hour ago. They have become one of my favorites.

I would have to agree. The Vin 90, 92, SG and the RP OWR are awesome cigars.

I am going to have the opportunity to meet RP in person at a new cigar shop opening up in my town in November. Can't wait.

Go to cigarsinternational.com and search for Big Ring, you will find the RP Big Ring 20 sampler for 79 dollars. Then search for the same thing on Cbid. If you can get that sampler at CBid for less than 79 go for it but dont bid over 79 as that is the everyday price at CI. From time to time CI puts that sampler on a weekly special for 59

Oh great! Thanks for the tip, I'll have to pick that one up. What shop is he going to be at in November? I would be interested in meeting him as well.

Those 92's are really deep and rich. What do you think of the 90's?

I'm trying to get my hands on a 90, I haven't been able to try one yet. This 92 is my first RP ever, and I have a few more left, thank God! =)

Re: Rocky Patel 92

I got a RP Vintage sampler for about $25 (I think from superiorcigars)... it had 3 Vintage 1992's and 3 Vintage 1990's... best $25 spent on cigars so far. they looked really good all snug in their box. the 1990's had a tiny bit of bloom on them but a little dusting and they looked great... the 1992's looked fantastic... they had a nice sheen to them and they were incredibly firm... good draw...

the foot on one of my 1990's was a little swollen, maybe there was a lot of humidity variation at some point in its life... the wrapper was a little torn and delicate on the tip of that stick, but it didn't really affect the smoke... so far I've had one 90 and one 92, the others, I'll keep in the humi for a bit and see if they get better.

love em both... even tho they look pretty similar, flavor wise they are surprisingly different IMO. the 1990's were a little more subtle... and I think I prefer them... but the 92's were good too.

oh, I forgot to mention, the delicate nature of the wrapper on the '90 I got was not limited to the foot... the entire cap (I think it was a double) popped off when I cut it to smoke... I don't think the Xikar Xi3's I used were the problem... the head still held together, a testament to the construction of these guys...

I'm an official RP whore... what ever he's doing over there, he does it well.

And since you guys seem to like the pictures, here are some...

the box, a '92, and a 92 mid-smoke... it's a beaut.
